I stayed here for just one night in September 2017 as part of a trade mission. The hotel is fairly non-descript and doesn't feel as though it has much character. There were hundreds of rooms and yet it all felt a little out of season.
It is twenty minutes walk to a huge shopping mall, and I strolled around there in the afternoon. In the morning I was able to go for a run along the sea front on Tokyo Bay which was great.
The hotel itself doesn't feel like a place you'd want to spend time with your family. It's simply a place for itinerant business people.
It's not unpleasant, but it would be hard to recommend.

Close to train station

Near by restaurants and mini marts..
Just it is almost 45 min far from the city.

New otani Makuhari is very convenient to all the convention centres, especially Foodex. The staff are good. The fitout is not the latest and it has physical keys rather than keycards (don't lose one or it will cost you lots) but they are professional and courteous, and the location is great. No free 'onsen' though. Great views.

This hotel is really old and and the room design is just like in 80 / 90s. I can’t believe that the owner never renovate such ages hotel!
Their duvet made me allergy and I couldn’t sleep well because of itchiness. Pillows are too low too. Some of the electric wires beside the bed are exposed which would be dangerous to their guests. Wi-fi is slow and unstable.
I will never stay in any of the Hotel New Otani in the future! Real bad and terrible experience.

We recently stayed at this hotel for 4 days. We combined business & pleasure on our trip to Tokyo. Our overall experience can be called - disappointing hotel and unfriendly environment for tourist & business.
It seems that if we did not belong to a Hotel club/reward group, everything we needed or asked for was on a "pay for it system", even a bottle of water for the room upon arrival. Shocking I know, but thats what we were told by the Guest Relations Staff lady when we asked her for water. :-(
The room we had was very small. Even we were a couple, we were given two single bed, which slept very badly due to the type of mattresses used by the hotel. We did not enjoy waking up in pain, every morning...or simply not being able to sleep through the night.
The staff at the Breakfast SatSuki restaurant was not keen to help you once you were seated - seemingly most of the locals got served tea/coffee whilst we ( foreigners) were ignored. We had no info on what is on offer for breakfast nor what were our options to ask/order/request...whilst it was clear the locals got a lot more attention and were able to order drinks/coffees/etc at leisure. This was disturbing.
The Hotel does not offer a shuttle service. Nothing. Not even a basic shuttle to the station which is about 1km away. This seemed very strange as many guests know how expensive taxis in Japan are and how valuable a basic shuttle service to the nearest public transportion point can be to everyone. But no such luck.
The best part of this hotel is its location. Close to a station, a huge Mall and a big Outlet(discount) mall - so, we often opted to shop our dinners there.
We have decided not to stay at this hotel when next we return to Japan, unless we know they have made some much needed client-focussed changes.
