I stayed two nights in this hotel and I had a wonderful stay. My room nr.10 was big, comfy and super clean. As a singel woman traveller you can feel very safe. Senora Esperanza and her team are super friendly and helpful and make your stay very pleasant all time. The price is great for what you get. Highly recommended! Thanks for the pleasant stay!

The hotel was clean and nice and in a good location but what stood out was that the owners and the staff were fantastic. My baggage did not arrive with me, and everyone there showed concern with the owner, on his own initiative keeping contact with the airline office and encouraging them to find the bag and explaining that they needed to provide compensation. But it wasn't just that, they seemed happy to provide information when needed, to see me every time I left and returned, etc.
Other info that readers might find helpful:
1. The place was mostly peaceful and quiet, but my last night there were more backpackers than usual hotel guests, and it was louder (but still ended about 10:00-10:30.
2. I booked a room with a large bed. It really was two twin beds pushed together sideways with king-size sheets put over them leaving a slight gap across the middle of the bed from side-to-side. I found it comfortable enough once I either shifted my body up or down to get my hip away from the gap.
3. The breakfasts were delicious. The best was the day they served scrambled eggs with lots of bacon scrambled with them. Some days, the main dish for breakfast was a little lighter in amount of food than others. Every day there was a fresh fruit plate (with the kind of fruit varying from day-to-day), coffee, and a glass of fresh juice.
4. The WiFi was better than I expected having read horror stories about WiFi speeds in Colombia. It wasn't great here, but it was close to 5 Mb/s for downloads--enough that I made some calls to the US about my luggage with just an occasional flutter and I watched a Netflix film (with a few hiccups) one evening.
5. Anyone obese should probably look elsewhere; the door to the small shower stall opens inward, so a person has to step inside to the back corner and stand there while swinging the door past them to close it.
6. When you walk down to the local square (Iglesia Trinity) in the evening and eye the stall making those delicious burgers, realize that they may try to take advantage of you. They quoted 7200 for a burger when I asked, but a group who bought them while I was watching said they paid only 12,000 for 4 burgers. Also, that paleta (fruit-flavored ice cream bar) place in a shop on the same square charges a ridiculous 5000 for a bar, whereas in San Antonio where I live you can get ones that look even better for 1500 COP! Just note that very few places have their prices marked, and there is a reason for that!!

Great location in an up and coming area of Cartagena. The staff was great and exceeded our expectations in service. The room we stayed in was very clean, comfortable, and had a great view. The rooftop terrace felt magical at night, and was a great place to unwind after the hustle and bustle of the streets. THANK YOU for an incredible memory and great experience.

On the edge of Getsemani, Doña Esperanza's guesthouse was a wonderful place to stay. A friendly atmosphere, a little patio for breakfast or a beer, and a roof top terrace with Jacuzzi and great views of the modern part of Cartagena.
The room was ensuite, clean, quiet and with much needed air conditioning.

What an amazing stay in Cartagena. We were actually booked in somewhere else and cancelled to come and stay here, best decision we made. This place is run by Leonardo and Esperancia who are the 2 nicest people you will ever meet. They not only made us feel at home but made us feel like part of the family. They we so welcoming and helpful, offering advice about where to go, how to get there and what to do. The rooms were beautiful and spacious with good air con, the rooftop was a great place to relax and hang out with stunning views and all the staff were always to friendly.
If your looking for somewhere to stay in Cartagena this is a must!!!
Thanks again
