The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are nice and big, the food is amazing and the staff is super friendly. Location is perfect!! However the pillows are very uncomfortable and old. This definitely needs to improve!

Beautiful hotel in Antigua - lovely spot right next to famous arch

This is a lovely hotel in Antigua. The rooms are beautiful and the beds very comfortable. My room had wonderful high ceilings, with a huge skylight in the bathroom. Blow dryer was even available. Very clean, very helpful staff. The rooms are centered around a lovely little fountain, and filtered water is available for visitors who can't drink the local water.

Our last two nights in Guatemala were enjoyably spent at the Hotel Posada de Don Rodrigo. This beautiful courtyard property is situated close the the central park and within walking distance to many restaurants, bars and shops. Flowers, plants and other greenery abound in the courtyard areas. An upstairs terrace gives a great view of the Agua volcano.

Our standard double room was just down a bit from the front entrance and reception area. It was a bit noisy since everyone had to pass by our room to get to theirs or the restaurant/bar and upstairs terrace areas. The front door gets locked at 10:00pm so anyone returning after that must knock to be allowed in. We did hear knocking at various late hours. I'm guessing an upgraded room, superior or other category might mean a better, quieter location.

The room itself was not overly big, just room enough for a double bed, two night stands, small table against the wall, one chair and a cabinet housing a TV with lower space for clothing. Bathroom was neat - one side with sink and shower, a separate side with toilet and another sink. No hooks in the bathroom and not much space to put toiletries. Otherwise, nice and very clean.

The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful. We only had drinks in the restaurant area (the bar is just a tiny room off of the restaurant), where the wait staff made us feel very welcome even though we weren't eating. Service was very attentive.

Wi-Fi was free and very fast.

We had to be on our way to the airport at 3:30am. Our main concern was how long we might have to wait to get a cup of coffee at that early hour. Not long at all -- a big pot of fresh hot coffee was waiting for us in the hotel reception area! That's great service.

We enjoyed this property so much more than the Posada de Don Rodrigo in Panajachel at Lake Atitlan. So much cozier and pleasant.

I come to Guatemala once a year before going on to Chimaltenago - this time I brought my two daughter and niece ( ages 17-21). Enchanted, wonderful colonial room with four beds. We were in the main calle and if street noise bothers you ( open windows keep air flowing) then ask for a garden view. We loved following the street stories-and used ear plugs. Meals are good in the hotel but cheaper outside the gate. Needed to change a hiking reservation and Carmen at the front desk went above and beyond helping. Sangria and cards on the terrace is a great way to end busy days. Will come back.

We stayed here over the weekend for two nights, and although the small amount of time we had - it was restaurant was top-notch, we ate breakfast there and lunch once. You get an amazing view of Volcán de Agua and the busy streets of Antigua are right outside. The hotel features an impressive courtyard with a fountain. Extremely good experience and hope to visit again.
