Hard beds, great garden and breakfast

The hotel is located just across the stree from the lake and boat tour providers. Catemaco Center is within walking distance.
The pros: beautiful garden and Pool area with many birds, also humming birds, gorgous Mexican warm and cold breakfast buffet served in the garden pavillon, good location, free parking. Upper floor rooms have a veranda facing the garden, nice place to sit in the evening.
The cons: extremely hard beds, if you like this you will like this place. We had both back pains after our 3days stay and would not return. Rooms are very basic and a bit woran and torn.
For Catemaco, in the days before New Years Eve, the Anejos are around, a tradition with masquerade and marimba music, making the otherwise a bit quiet town very lively. Just Google Anejos de Catemaco. Catemaco itself was fine once, but we would not return.

We moved away from our noisy downtown first night hotel and were so pleased with Koniapan. They gave us a lower price without being asked, put us in the best room, and let us leave luggage. The beautifully-kept garden and pristine pool were a refuge, and having kids playing in the yard made it friendly and home-y. Coffee maker in the room (but unfortunately it looks like they're going to the disposable cup model). Helpful with tour info, very comfortable atmosphere.
By far the best little hotel in Mexico

Our stay was extreme in pleasantry, the hotel staff fell over themselves trying to accomodate us. They brought fruit and coffee to our room, REFUSED the tip. They are next to the lake, it was quiet, and all 4 reviews are within the definitions of our being in agreement. The pool was a bit dirty, they did give us a room to get the MOST bars strength for Wi Fi, we liked it.
Location, location, location!

I stayed at this hotel for just 1 night this past week. I live in the city of Veracruz and wanted to visited Catemaco. The hotel was reasonably priced, and had the amenities I was looking for (a pool, wifi and free breakfast). I arrived by bus and the hotel is literally 1 block behind the bus station for ADO, and 1 block from the beginning of the boardwalk. This was great because I didn't have to waste any money on taxis.
The room was very large, with 2 double beds, and a HUGE balcony overlooking the pool and the lake. There was also bottled water and glasses in the room.
As for the downsides of the hotel; the wifi signal is not very strong, it works best outside on the balcony. In addition, it would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room (although there is 1 at reception that they let the guests use). And finally, the bathroom was a shower only.
However, for the price that I paid, these small details didn't bother me. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I had to call ahead because there is not a check in time listed on the website, and they said you can check in at 8 am and check out at 1 pm. This was a big plus for me.
In addition, there was a fenced in playground for families.

We have traveled to Catemaco, Veracruz numerous times and always stay at Hotel Posada Koniapan. There is gated parking and it is a relatively small very clean hotel overlooking the malecon and lake. Beautiful garden area surrounding the pool area. We always stay on the 2nd floor with offers a private balcony with table and chairs. Front desk personnel are always helpful and gardner does a great job. Room has two double beds, private bath with hot water. Daily bottled water and maid service. Laundry service is available onsite and coffee is available in the morning hours in the reception area. You get a nice breeze off the lake otherwise air conditioning is an option. Location is within easy walking distance to the town square and nice central location for the many sight seeing activities in this region. Enjoy!
