We paid extra for a canal view (no balcony) room. Well worth the extra. At the front, the canal, at the street entrance/reception, lots of cafes and bars, patisseries, pizzerrias, and only 600 metres from the magnificent Ferrovia (rail station with best exit panorama in the world - straight onto the Grand Canal). A good place from which to explore the city. BUT be prepared to walk! Great exploring, wonderful sites.Take a Vaporetto water bus, if you prefer but for atmosphere walk and explore.

Our first time in Italy. Really enjoyed the great location with a view of the canal. The bartender Lino was great taking care of us bringing drinks and recommended wines. Erika is an awesome concierge and recommended a nice restaurant in San marco square area and made reservations for us tonight. Looking forward to it. Thanks Erika 😎

We stayed at the hotel in Febuary 2017. The hotel was everything we hoped for . We had reservations with Gate One Travel that did not include a balcony so we upgraded for 60 and loved sitting outside and having our coffee in the morning and our wine at night..Just out the entrance door was the city filled with shops and places to eat. The old world charm of the hotel and great customer service is what i will remember most about our stay....

This hotel has a lovely warm, cosy atmosphere. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. We met other guests who visit this hotel every year. There is an outdoor bar area where guests can watch all the boats and gondolas go by. The hotel benefits from the services of Erica who is an independent tour guide and appears to be on call for guests 24 hours a day. She is incredibly helpful and even arranged a courtesy water taxi to visit the Murano factory.
Rooms are spacious and well lit. Only criticism is that due to the age and architecture of the hotel the bath and shower were rather inaccessible. The bath and overhead shower was in a recess which made getting in and out of both the shower rather difficult. I consider myself to be quite fit but I really struggled.
Breakfast is very good. Plenty of choice and good quality. There is a sushi bar which seems to be extremely popular

Good service from the front desk staff. The view of the Grand Canal from our room was wonderful. We had a small suite on the first floor with a king bed, a single day bed, a sitting area, and two bathrooms. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty although the dining room was very crowded. I would be happy to stay here again.
