We stayed here for 1 night and for a reason I can only call the X factor it was the best stay during our entire trip.
The reception we received when we arrived was lovely however we also received some lovely welcomes from other places we stayed.
The room/cabin was beautiful however so were others we stayed at
The food cooked by Jose was top notch however again during our trip round Costa Rica we ate at other places just as good.
Swimming in the waterfall was brilliant but again so were some of the other places we swam during our trip
The bed and bed linen, this actually was the best during our entire trip.
So what made this place stick out, I honestly don't know but of all the places I left a little bit of my heart I left the most here.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Quelitales on our last night in Costa Rica. To put it simply, the stay far exceeded our expectations! As several of the other reviewers have mentioned, the staff here truly goes above and beyond to make your stay amazing. The bungalow had a comfortable bed and was very clean. Jose prepared a delicious dinner for us, complete with a paired wine and flaming dessert. He even opened the kitchen early for us the following morning so that we could eat breakfast before our flight. Although it was raining for the majority of our stay, this hotel has a stunning view of the Costa Rican hillside. Our only regret is that we weren't able to stay a longer!

We stayed at Hotel Quelitales for 2 nights during our visit to Costa Rica and had a wonderful time!
Jose and his team go out of their way to provide exceptional customer service, from the homemade soap you receive on arrival, to the free treats in the room for our daughter to the hot water bottles for bedtime. And the food is delicious- the breakfast & dinner we had in the restaurant was for sure the best food we had during our entire stay in Costa Rica - Jose even provided dinner options that weren't on the menu in order to cater for our daughter.
The Cabinas are well equipped and really cosy - the beds were super comfy! And the outdoor waterfall shower was great!
The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, but so beautiful, humming birds, butterflies and other interesting birds we're literally everywhere around us - so if you are looking for a quiet getaway where you'll get 5 star customer service then this is the place to go!

As other reviews have noted, Jose and staff are willing to go to great lengths to make your stay exceptional. The food here, as personally prepared by Jose is top notch, and compares favorably with any meals you will find anywhere in Costa Rica.
The rooms are comfortable and clean, the beds are excellent. The surroundings are filled with tropical flowers and plants, and the ponds filled with trout and with resident waterfowl.
Jose personally offers assistance with tours and information about Costa Rica and he showed us his incredible photos taken with his game camera of ocelots and every other kind of indigenous wildlife in the surrounding area. The waterfall on his property is spectacular.
The only difficult part of the property to be aware of is the steep gravel road to some of the higher up cabinas. The road is not for the faint of heart or those not in good physical shape. If you are looking for an out of the way place to tuck away while exploring this less traveled part of Costa Rica, you cannot do better than to stay here.

So glad we found this place! We were only able to spend one night here but enjoyed the grounds and the restaurant. Room was spacious and comfortable and enjoyed the outside shower. Must have a 4wd to get up hill.
