The whole park is great, but this is really a gem. If you like adrenaline you can cliff jump. If you like marine life the snorkeling (and I'm sure diving) is primo! If you like birds the flamingos are hanging out there. It was truly a great spot!

During the long route drive through National Park Washington Slagbaai (which takes you along the rough northeastern coast and more intimate bushy areas), we stopped at Boca Slagbaai for snorkeling. Although the corals and diversity of fish are more diverse at some other places around the island, the view is spectacular, with a bright blue bay at the ocean side, a quiet salt lake with flamingo's, pelicans and many other water birds on the inland side, and yellow-walled, orange-roofed historical buildings on the stretch of land in between. What surprised us is that the site is rather quiet and not flooded with tourists, but the long car drive from the entrance of the national park probably explains that...

Took our truck and saw the nature reserve on our no diving day before flying home .
Lovely spot with beach and sea on one side and lake with Flamingos and Pelicans on the other !!
Toilets were a bonus as well

Boca Slagbaai, what struck us with Boca Slagbaai is the power it resembles if the waves touch land . The color is darker than Northern parts of Bonaire , the ocean is wllder but still intriguing . Boca Slagbaai can be reached via the long route of Washington Slagbaai .

Boca Slagbaai is on the west shore of the national park, and is one of the few places in the park with restroom facilities. It has some nice shaded picnic areas, and the cliffs on the south side of the beach seem to be a popular spot for cliff jumping (about a 15 foot leap). This is also one of the best places on the island to see the pink flamingos, which hang out in the shallow lake directly east of the park buildings.
