The first time I have stayed at this hotel and it stood out for all the right reasons. Modern and well-appointed. Compared with other hotels in the Parliament House district it is streets ahead. The only issue for this area is that a car is needed to get around, compared to downtown, but the hotel had free and ample parking. Parking spaces were even big enough to fit my 4-Wheel drive. I suspect when parliament is sitting the hotel may have occupancy issues, but it is worth considering as your hotel of choice in Canberra.

Great room, spacious, comfortable bed and amenities. Quite affordable for Canberra and 5 star hotel. Friendly staff who made made me feel at ease. Would recommend to a friend and will gladly come back for a visit.

Stayed here for 3 days 2 nights in June. Got an upgrade. Lovely room, good service. Bed was comfortable. Very clean neat and tidy room. We were happy with our stay, will definitely recommend and return. Had a bit of issue parking on our first night, but apart from that absolutely loved the stay.

Spent 4 nights at Hotel Realm in a Suite. Bed was very comfortable and soft (some may say it is too soft). Kitchenette had microwave oven for simple non-cooked meal preparation and dishwasher - an induction cooker and pan would be helpful additions. Excellent wifi connection. Would have been better if buffet breakfast and carpark is complementary. Otherwise, a very good home away from home.

I stay here regularly, probably 30 times in total. Never has the reception ever greeted me as a returning customer or show any respect for that returning business. Repeatedly, I have to go through the same things, again and again, and they each promise to take it up with the manager, and fix the recurring issues, but it never happens. I have never heard from the manager, who must take a dim view to loyal guests, in the several years of coming here. I don't know how many staff have told me he /she would fix my concerns. There seems to be at least one problem every time, mostly because the front desk staff are disinterested and indifferent. And I hate having to ask/report/feedback, but I am now tired of it.
Consistent deficiencies include being unable to contact "guest services". Calling reception is a waste of effort and resorting to the external number also has been met with a ring out on many occasions. Then, you have to go down and speak to them, the last thing you feel like after a late night. There have been stays where deficiencies in basic items, such as no water, or toiletries, require contact. On one occasion, there were no pillows on he bed! As I always arrive late, it further frustrates the arrival as I don't want to have to be calling for items which should be a given, such as the correct room or expected amenities. I gave up ordering room service breakfast as they could not get basic orders right and I am in a hurry to leave. They have also forgotten wake up calls, several times. More stress. I'd rather go without.
The place is crisp and inviting, no doubt, and the rooms spacious, clean and comfortable. Physically, it's a beautiful and well-maintained property. What makes a great hotel, in my opinion, is well trained service-oriented staff who work as a team, coordinate, record and remember simple requests that cost absolutely nothing, yet make you feel good, and motivates you to look forward to returning. These qualities are absent here, esp at reception, where I have the distinct sinking feeling that trying hard is superfluous and helping you enjoy your experience is completely out of range.
