Closest to the JR station

This hotel is best for its location as it is situated right in front of the JR Aomori Station. Rooms are expected to be small but very clean.
Breakfast is included which is kind of modest but suits us well.
Great location.

Location is perfect. It is right across Aomori station. There is a covered walkway that you can walk around to family mart and dining place. No problem when it is raining. Hotel room is a bit dated but still in great condition. Free WIFI is available. Buffet breakfast is ok. Not the best but enough to start the day.
Highly recommended

Great hotel right opposite the station in Aomori.
Excellent service and friendly staff.
The room was small as is usual in Japan, but quite adequate. The beds were comfortable with a topper and we slept really well. Room was quite.
The included breakfast was excellent, suitable for both western as well as eastern tastes.
Wifi was free and generally fast.
Would stay here again and it was very affordable for Japan.
Beware of the Onsen or Public Baths and Being Asian from America
Allan H on 18/11/2016 08:29
I've become more aware of foreign visitors (Chinese) with there bad mannerism and their lack of understanding on how to use the onsen or public baths in Japan. The normal way to use the bath is to first wash yourself with soap and water. These are located on the perimeter of the soaking baths. On several occasions (spent 3 nights at this hotel). Then after washing yourself you then proceed to use the soaking baths. Numerous Chinese just splash water on them and then enter the onsen. Only after soaking do they proceed to wash them selves of with soap and water. FILTHY and a lack of consideration for other users. Used it for the first two nights and mornings but refused to use it the third night because of the lack of sanitary practices by the Chinese. The front desk was less than courteous when they thought we were Chinese. They only became friendly when we gave them gifts from Hawaii. Macadamia nuts and covered chocolate macadamina nuts and a Hawaiian calendar. These foreign tourist are ruining it for Asians coming from Hawaii.
I've notice this on my trips to Kyoto and Noboribetsu (both use of the baths (not washing before using) and harsh treatment of English speaking Asians until they know we were not chinese).
If you are staying during nebuta festival, book early!

If you are heading to Aomori for the nebuta festival, chances are, you'll have a hard time booking hotels. I found that out this year when i tried 5months before the festival in August.
All dates were blocked by all the hotels and when i emailed the hotels, i found out that all of them had outsourced the reservation from 3-7 august to JTB. Given how japanese hotels allow you to cancel your reservation for free up to 2 days and you dont have to make any payments until you arrive, i can see why they did that.
So to get a room, i suggest going down to the nearest JTB at least 5 months ahead to put your name in. You can state your price brackets, the distance from hotel, whether you want breakfast etc. They will take care of the rest!
I did mine 4 months before and was informed later when the booking process opened that it was all fully booked. But i pressed on and JTB contacted me every few weeks with updates, some far which i didnt want. I had to await cancellations (which always happens trust me, but it will cut very close) and finally got my two adjoining nights in Route Inn (lucked out really, at this point, i would have taken any hotel) 3 weeks before August. Price was ridiculously high, but it was extremely convenient.
Bed was a little hard, but it did not bother me as i was extremely tired from joining in the dancing at the festival. The hotel is also right next to the nebuta warase museum and close to the furukawa fish market.
Free breakfast was also provided which was a good pick me up when you need to leave early to catch the train.
If you arent staying here during the festival, prices are really low. So give this a try
