Overnight stay overlooking Lake Bolsena
Sailboatowneron 09/11/2017 12:24After enjoying the medieval towns of Tuscany, my wife and I wanted a lakeside retreat for a night and the Hotel Royal was ideal for that purpose.
The hotel is very grand and elegant and the staff were welcoming and accommodating. It was not busy being early November but must be hugely popular in the summer with its proximity to the lake and swimming pool.
The lake is enormous and would prove to be an interesting location for a longer holiday.
Our room overlooking the little harbour was spacious and 'classical' and the en-suite modern and well appointed.
Parking was available in the hotel's private car park.
Breakfast was very substantial in the spacious breakfast room overlooking the swimming pool.
We would have no hesitation in returning to the Hotel Royal.

ninag684on 12/07/2017 18:44we stayed at hotel royale on a whim while driving through bolsena. the location can’t be beat–right on the water and walking distance to pretty much everywhere. we enjoyed the swimming pool quite a bit as it was a hot day in Italy. we also loved the outdoor terrace on the second floor where we relaxed and drank wine. the room was fine; the bed was okay and the shower was excellent. for under $100 per night, it was all we needed. the only issue was that the air conditioner got cut off sometime in the middle of the night, and came back on at 7:20 am.. we had it set to cool, but it must have been on a master schedule as we could not get it back on, so it became uncomfortably hot in our room. the breakfast left something to be desired, but it was nice for it to be included. overall good for the price, aside from the A/C issue.
Elegant Hotel at the heart of the lakeside!
Donna Lon 12/07/2017 17:11We stayed at this wonderful hotel while walking the Via Francigena. The property is lovely and the service friendly and efficient. Nice, well appointed rooms; great, peaceful pool area; and an excellent dining opportunity at their sister property, the Hotel Lido. We can't wait to return for a longer stay!
Good location
Trondocon 26/04/2017 21:14Good location next to the shore of Lake Bolsena , some hundred meters from the town. The rooms are clean and with good sleeping comfort . Quiet surroundings. The only minus was the poor service in bar , maybe it was early in the season and not staffed enough.
Nice Hotel in great location by the lake
Geoff Hon 10/03/2017 12:59We were on a cycling trip from Florence to Rome and Bolsena is a great stop over point. The Royal Hotel is right on the lake and we got a lovely lake view room. The staff
are very helpful and friendly and it was no problem to store our bike in the shed.
The decor is old world but very clean and comfortable.
There are a few restaurants and bars in front of the hotel and we sat on the lake beach drinking cocktails and watching the sunset.
It was a very quiet time for the hotel and we got a free car to their associated hotel for Dinner which was average but set menu not a lot of choice.
