Clean hotel,good location, metro a 10 minute walk and the best way to get around. So much traffic don’t rely on taxis. Our room was boiling hot and with no heating on so had to sleep,with the window open. Building work nearby woke us very early every morning and traffic noise. The whole hotel is roasting hot, Very uncomfortable. Food does not cater well for vegetarians for every evening meal unless you want salad.. ocassionly fish but not often.
I know the Russians aren’t known for their manners and friendliness but some staff here take that to the extreme, a grunt or a forced smile is common, even when you say thank you in Russian to them. Lack of English too, one waitress in the Vue bar did not understand our drinks order which is written in English in the menu, then just sighed and got someone else to take the order. I was very surprised that they also didn’t know what a White Russian drink was! When I explained the ingredients they said they couldn’t make it....
Overall, learn some manners, better English all round and turn the heating down!

Impressive looking hotel situated on the embankment.Spacious and modern lobby.And the woes start...
Location--slightly away from the city in a very ordinary surrounding.A metro station is nowhere near. A basic supermarket a kilometer away.Stay away--Unless you are lucky to get the river view rooms. Though i had requested for a river view--i was allotted a courtyard view which was an eye sore.
Rooms-so small that your basic luggage would be difficult to adjust. No water bottles provided in the rooms--pls go out in the corridor and fill up your bottles/kettles!
Service--Housekeeping inefficient--could not clean my room even by 3.00pm! Of the 4 days that i stayed--the bed linen was not changed! Bathroom amenities were the saving grace.
Food/Service--Had b/f only at the 1st floor restaurant--big disappointment!--repetitive selection and hardly any fresh fruit! one day there was no butter on the buffet!--had to request several staff for the same before it appeared (after half an hour...at around 7.35 am)--tables are not laid for a basic b/f--bare tables with an option of paper napkins! It takes ages for dirty plates to be cleared.
Do not recommend this hotel for guests planning to stay more than two nights.

The lobby looks nice but when you get to the floors for the rooms it changes. The hallway is dark brown with scratches on the wall and air ventilation seems to be missing. The doors of the rooms are very thin so you hear everything!
The single room is small (not sure when I slept on a 90cm bed the last time) but clean. You can hear the noises from the street only a little as long as you keep the window closed. There is no main light, so it is rather dim in the room. The bathroom is also clean but clearly someone did not pay attention to details. (See photos.) I had some problems with the water temperature but the rest was ok.
WiFi is too slow to do anything.
The breakfast is ok but the quality of the food is closer to former Soviet style than international.
Because it is an economy class hotel among the other guests are big tourist groups and school classes.

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel. Room was extremely comfortable, a good size and very clean. Good location to use as a base to explore St Petersburg. Stayed with a group and all of us thought the same and would recommend this hotel to others.

Saint Petersburg is a beautiful city. It reminded me about Florence, Paris & Venice. Many museums, cathedrals to see. All looking magnificent.
We stayed in Hotel The Brothers Karamazov. Very nice & cozy. Most sights are within walking distance.
