A small budget Hotel

We got this hotel by default as the hotel we booked about 2 blocks away was full and they moved us to this hotel. We were part of a Choir group and 8 couples got moved. We were there for 3 nights
We checked out several other rooms and none were the same size. They all had different floor plans, furniture, and bathroom layouts.as well. Our room was one the larger rooms even though we all paid the same price. The air conditioning was good, but there was no bar fridge or safe. The building was old and the rooms had not been updated for a long time.
They had a very small breakfast room but we never ate there. Often, there was no one at the front desk when came into the lobby and when there was, they never welcomed us, let alone looked up from their monitor to make eye contact with us.
There were several reasonably priced restaurants nearby as well as a small convenience store across the narrow street where you could buy cold drinks.
The entire town is on a hillside and most of the sights and shopping are on the lower 1/2 of the town. This hotel is on the upper third of the hill, so prepare to do a lot of up and down climbing. Buses are very few and infrequent, however, there are taxis which we used several times.
Hotel San RUDEfino!

After the way we were treated, I'd never stay in this hotel nor would I recommend it - here's why:
The first thing the woman at the desk said IN ENGLISH was, "There is a problem." She explained the rest in rapid Italian, which was hard to understand. She didn't respond when I tried to tell her my name and show her my reservation, made no attempt to answer any of my questions as I tried to clarify what the problem was, but just repeated what she had said before.
All I understood was that we were getting a different room, not why. But then she led us out of the hotel and down the street! I was concerned because my husband was using a cane and the streets are either very steep or actual stairs, plus we were carrying our bags! After a few turns, we met up with another woman who shook my hand and said, "Hi, I'm
Jenny." As we started to follow her, the woman from San Rufino took off without so much as "Ciao" let alone an apology!
Jenny led us to a street with several steep levels of stairs - my poor hubby! - and I asked her to explain what was going on. She said she was taking us to her hotel because there was no room at San Rufino - I knew that was not what I had been told, but what could we do?
I was exasperated and frustrated, unable to understand why Hotel San Rufino did not honor our reservation. But because Jenny was so kind and considerate, we were grateful that we stayed with her instead. You can be sure I will recommend her hotel to anyone going to Assisi!
Lovely little hotel in a great location

Although our room was a bit small, it had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable at a very affordable price. The breakfast had a nice variety and the croissants were to die for!
The location was excellent, just steps away from excellent restaurants and shopping. Assisi is a beautiful medieval village and should not be missed.
Good middle of town location

Middle being halfway up the hill that comprises Assisi.. It was a nice hotel with a large bathroom and one of the largest showers we saw during our trip. Quiet with an attractive rear exposure of walls and flowering vines. Comfortable bed and air-conditioned.Several nice restaurants nearby. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Very nice

Top location on a hillside, and It's a very, very nice town. Just what we had hoped for on our vacation tour through Italy! You will NOT regret stopping in Assisi. Clean town, with a lot of impressing buildings. You can sit in outside (bar) for hours and just enjoy the atmosphere. 😉👍
