I booked this hotel, because I had an early flight to catch from Bergamo Airport. I arrived at 22:30 and left at 6:00 in the morning, so I can only review the room.
The room is really clean and new. The bathroom is spacious and the shower is like a massage, after a long day travelling.
The guy on the reception was helpful.
Wifi works in the room!
Would totally stay again.
We almost missed our flight…

The hotel location is nice — not far from old town, on a quiet street. Rooms are small but clean. And service… well…
The day before our way home we warned one of the boys on reception we need a cab at 04:30. We got up one hour earlier, got ready, packed what's left unpacked from the evening earlier and got out to the lobby. We should have left the key card at the reception and get to airport.
There was no taxi.
Reception is closed from 22:00 to 07:30.
At 04:50 after trying to use taxi call center I decided to use one of the emergency numbers at the reception.
The guy that came down to our aid did not speak english.
After five minutes of explaining what happened he called the taxi and kindly reminded us we have to pay room tax (2.50 per person per night).
Be warned: if you decide to stay there — be sure you sort things out at reception at least twice.
Started out nicely but ended off poorly

I stayed alone in the hotel during the first 2 weeks, and my girlfriend joined me the last 2 nights. I told the Manager that my girlfriend would be joining, and that I would be happy to pay the difference in price for a second person. The manager said I could stay in my room or move to a larger room. I chose to move to the larger room. Then, upon check-out, she charged me for my original room and the new room, giving me only a mere 12 Euro discount on the second room (yes; I was charged for 2 rooms!). I found this to be outrageous since it was never communicated to me that I would still be charged for my original room, nor was there any mention of any pricing at all until I checked out. Who would ever book two rooms and leave one empty in a hotel? I should also add that the key to my original room was taken away from me (so, although I had 2 rooms, I had no access to one of them). What hotel staff doesn't mention precise pricing to a customer before they make a purchase? I felt as though I was taken advantage of as a foreigner, since while she recommended I take the larger room, she conveniently left out the part that I would be charged for my original room AND the larger room. I followed up in a few emails raising my concerns, but then she (the manager) was more concerned with proving her point than trying to keep me (the client) happy. She took it personally, not realizing that she is in the business of keeping clients happy. Indeed, I wrote the same review on booking.com, and as expected, she keeps trying to justify herself without ever taking some blame. I noticed her doing this with other clients as well. In reference to her comment that I wrote a positive note to her, this was to help her with a complaint she has with a neighbouring business, and I wrote this note before I was charged for a second room. My stay was pleasant up until she surprised me with the charge. Moreover, I helped edit her hotel's service questionnaire in english. I was a good client. I suppose she just doesn't care about my future business. For this reason, I would not recommend the hotel. I will not be staying there again, nor will I recommend it to others.
Awful experience - horrible manageress!

We booked through hotels.com last minute. Booked a king size room with sofa bed which was confirmed. Arrived and discovered a barely furnished dated room with only two double beds. We explained politely about the need for a larger bed due to my husband's tallness. Young man at desk contacted a woman (probably his mother) who yelled at him into the phone. He hung up and said she would come. Expecting a civilized outcome, we were stunned at what happened!! This woman charged in the door and yelled "what is your problem!" Shocking display. She continued to rant at us like we were criminals. No customer service skills; even the young man looked dismayed at this woman's behaviour. Seriously, we were not being difficult. Please do not stay here when there are other reputable establishments who earn customers by dignified and respectful service. Needless to say, we left and found a hotel called the Citta dei Mille offering two adjoining rooms with a king bed in one and a single in the other (with breakfast and free wifi) for 15 euros more than the 95 euros at the Santa Caterina. Moreover, the desk clerk was very friendly and helpful.
Glad we were staying only one night

We stayed at Santa Caterina for one night on our way to Freiburg in the Black Forest and were pleased we were staying only one night. The hotel had recently been taken over by new owners who were really nice and very helpful and I hope they manage to improve things.
Our room was very clean and had obviously been newly decorated. The bathroom was very small but the shower was superb. However the walls were very thin, the door rattled and we were woken during the night by very noisy neighbours.
We ate out at Vesuvio which seemed to be the only restaurant open that evening but the food was very good. We did not have time unfortunately to visit the old town.
Breakfast, although typical Italian, was poor with little choice - mainly sweet pastries which, as a diabetic, I couldn't have. There was a small amount of bread and fresh pineapple, a little ham, a few slices of tomato and one cup of coffee but apart from that, very little else.
Unfortunately we do not feel that we can recommend this hotel at the moment but maybe it will improve?
