Good value for money

Stayed here at beginning of May 2017 for 1 night on a business trip. Despite me arriving at 7.45am, they had no problems getting me checked in. The room assigned to me was on the top floor and probably one of the higher priced ones - very big with separate living and bedroom areas and great views of Potosi.

There was heating in the room, it was clean and tidy and since I keep my standards fairly low in Bolivia, I was quite impressed. I didn't have the opportunity to try the food in the restaurant, but each time I passed through it the food smelled great and the restaurant was well presented.

I had no problems with the staff, they were polite and courteous - even ordering a taxi for my departure and calling my room to inform me it was ready. I wouldn't say that the staff went the extra mile for guests, they don't. The general attitude/vibe is that they are bored. However they do say please and thank you and since I've actually been insulted in other hotels around Bolivia, I'll list the staff in Santa Teresa as good.

The location is excellent, just 3 short blocks from the main plaza and lots of eating and drinking choices close by.

The price of the room was very good considering the size I had. I would certainly stay at this hotel again.

Nice warm rooms, but...

Have stayed here three times before over the last four years and stayed here again a couple of days ago, and MUST agree that the breakfast in this place is ABSOLUTELY LOUSY after having read someone else's review of the place. Stayed here two years ago and did experience a REALLY BAD breakfast at that time and remember it, but not being into reviewing places as I am now doing, thought to write this review. Room(s) that I have stayed in the four times I've been here, curiously all in room 22 all four times, is quite nice. Heating is very good and lots of hot water which is very nice due to Potosi's cold nights year round. Bedding is very clean, room is an OK size, Internet is good in room 22, BUT, breakfasts are LOUSY and staff rarely cracks a smile, all staff. Scrambled eggs seem to always be cold, bread tends to be stale although at one time it must've been fresh, coffee and especially tea is lukewarm. Nothing much else on offer except for a lonely one or two cold cuts on a plate. This place is not cheap-260 Bolivianos for a single and they sure could offer something more appetizing for that amount, in terms of breakfasts and friendlier staff. Would stay here again, only for the room, but it is expensive for what they offer.

Very good for Potosi!

Keeping in mind that you're in Potosi, this is a very good place to stay. It's well located, right by tourist attractions such as the convent of Santa Theresa. My room was clean and the shower was surprisingly awesome! The breakfast leaves you a bit wanting but overall, I recommend the place.

Good by Potosi standards

As the researching traveller will know, finding a good hostel at reasonable prices in potosi is a bit like finding the holy grail... This one is ok - the reception team is very friendly and helpful, some of the rooms have a nice view in the silver mountain, the rooms come with good sheets and heating (not standard but needed at 4000m in potosi). Ours was fairly old fashioned and run down, though had a very clean and newly made bathroom. In any other Bolivian city, the hostal would be massively overpriced, in potosi it was worth the money. Good location - less than 5 mins walk to the main square.

Decent value for a great location

The options in Potosí are pretty minimal and this hotel is one of the best in the batch. The rooms, while very dated with tiny TVs and decor, are spacious enough and heated. (a necessity at night in Potosí) Also appreciate the various layers of blankets despite the fact that they weren't exactly coordinated with each other (zebra print on one, modern blocks on another, camo on the third) As other reviewers have stated, breakfast is a major letdown. Scrambled eggs and sliced bread are your options with no fruit to be had. Location is excellent as it's very close to the main square in Potosí. Internet also worked really well in the room, including with my VPN. At the prices they charge I still think it is a very good value and have stayed there twice already.
