Wonderful staff, large rooms
Christine Son 20/11/2017 13:41We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The staff was super helpful with restaurant suggestions and changing our hotel reservations. There was always a person available who could explain things in English if need be. We loved the size of the room, twice as big as the usual hotel rooms. The bathroom was the size of a bedroom. The WIFI connection is super strong, which is important for us as we both work from the hotel room.
The hotel bar offers great coffees in the morning and lovely drinks in the evening. It is close to the tram (8 minute walk down hill) and there is a bus stop just outside the door. It is not in the very centre of town, but my husband and I like to have a walk after dinner, so it was perfect for us. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the centre of the old town.
Lovely Hotel on the River
David Mon 15/11/2017 17:07The Sercotel Hotel Gran Bilbao is an excellent hotel which can be expected of the Sercotel family of hotels. Located on the river outside of the main part of the city. Very busy at the time we checked in however the staff was able to handle all of the incoming and outgoing business and we quickly found ourselves in our rooms on the 8th floor. The view of the river below was stunning. The hotel is some distance from the main attraction in Bilbao, the Guggenheim Museum. This could cost you up to $10 each way for a taxi, however the hotel offers a free shuttle bus service for its clients on the weekend from 11:00AM to 23:00PM 5 stops around the city. While we did not eat at the hotel we did enjoy some adult beverages and tapas at the bar just off the lobby.
A great place to basque in the sun.
ABH542on 06/11/2017 09:38Very easy to get to from the airport, there is an express bus from the airport. You buy your ticket from a kiosk. €1.45 or taxi at €25, the bus takes you to the centre then you have a choice, walk, tram or bus. The hotel is situated just outside the old down up an incline. Large reception area and the greeting plus the info given set the scene.
The room was spacious and we had a great view. We stayed 3 nights, the breakfast really is something to write home about. We have stayed in quite a few places, but no one has come close to providing the same level and choices. The tortilla is unbelievable.
This is a fab hotel, great location, great staff and great food.
Great hotel for Access to Ferry Terminal and the city.
V5320MQwilliamjon 05/11/2017 13:48We arrived late afternoon to check in. The staff where excellent they gave us free bottles water. My wife tried out the massage service which was very good.
There were large vending machines with sandwiches and drinks available 24/7 which was handy.
Our room was very spacious with kettle facilities and a good selection of teas and coffee. The views from the room where stunning and there was free wifi.
The room service menu had adequate choices and was easy to order from by phoning reception.
Breakfast was self service with excellent choices and freshly cooked food included. One of the best we have had.
The underground garage was very secure for the car couldn't have been easier to get to reception with little green foot prints on the concrete floor leading you there.
The bonus was the bus stop in front of the hotel it travelled to the old town and to the new town. A tram service was also available just round the corner from the hotel. Easy access for exploring the city of Bilbao We would certainly recommend this hotel and will use it again.
Lovely Hotel
imsmith858on 03/11/2017 23:37A wonderful hotel with very friendly staff who were all extremely helpful and arranged for us to have an earlier breakfast on our leaving day. The breakfast selection was excellent and although the hotel was full, the breakfast area was never over-crowded and food in the buffet area was regularly topped up as well as being served freshly cooked from the kitchen area. The hotel is about 10 minutes easy walk down to the old town and although it is uphill on the way back we enjoyed the walk and did not find it difficult - we are lucky we are both fit 74 year olds. However, there is a bus stop right outside the hotel with a very regular bus service into the main areas if needed. We had a lovely, large bedroom and my husband, who was celebrating a birthday, was welcomed with a birthday card and some small pastries which was a lovely touch. We enjoyed having the Nespresso machine in our room - with a good selection of tea and coffee - as many hotels in Europe do not provide in room hot drink facilities.
We felt we had a good deal with this hotel, possibly because it is not in the centre of the city, but we prefer to walk around anyway so did not find it at all inconvenient. We would certainly recommend this to friends.
