We had no choice than this hotel as almost all other around were packed due to some festival. The rooms were untidy and sticky. Though they managed to clean them up. Basic commodities were lacking too. Only go here if its a last option.
Worst hotel experience ever

Never ever stay in this hotel when you visit Ajmer. Staff behavior is very bad and rude. Don't expect welcome. They will only increase your hassle. Bedsheets and pillow covers are dirty. Bathrooms seems like hospital common toilets. No printer no computer at front office. Very pathetic service.
Pathetic hotel

Hotel Shankar palace is a terrible hotel. When we reached the hotel, a garbage can near the hotel was there to greet us. The rooms are just bad, very bad. They don't even wash the bed linen. The bathrooms were unclean. Dont even think of buying the food from the hotel, just bland expensive food. Overall a bad experience.

Ajmer is in the centre of Rajasthan, 135 kms away from Jaipur. It is probably the only place, which is the pilgrimage centre for both of the Hindus and the Muslims. It is famous for the shrine of the Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and also for Brahma Temple in Pushkar, which is 11 kms away from Ajmer.
We reached Ajmer in one evening of December, 2012, starting from Chittorgargh. We stayed in Hotel Sankar Palace. Hotel was in the business area of Ajmer. We were in a group. The room, we were allotted, was good and cozy. Bathroom was clean. Bed and linen are comfortable.
Next day, in the very early morning, we went to Pushkar to see Brahma temple and Pushkar Lake. After that, we came back to hotel for breakfast. Thereafter, we went to Ajmer Sarif, renowned for Saint Moinuddin Chishti shrine. We came back to Hotel and taking an early lunch, proceeded for Ajmer Railway Station.
