they were doing building work at the hotel so had to step over cement and rubble on the floors to room, the room was basic but there was I can only guess a dog kennels near by as all you could hear was the dogs barking all the time. we were booked in for a couple of nights but decided to leave early as it was our anniversary and we didn't want to spend it in this hotel. although the town was fun to walk around and found a great little food place.

Shikar hotel is a place which is at the heart of the district Almora.One can visit all the nearby places of intersts by staying here.The place is comfortable.Complaints if any are attended to instantly.Food and services are good.The view of the mountain peaks is excellent and the staff is polite and helpful.

My husband booked the room the wrong night but reception changed it over and it was all sorted. We stayed an extra night as we really liked the room. Lovely and spacious with a nice view. The staff are very helpful especially the restaurant guys. We ordered local food which has to be ordered in the morning as it takes a while to prepare and it was fabulous. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel. A good hotel in the center of the town. The room was pleasant. The configuration is special, welcome is located on the last stage. The food in the restaurant was fine even if I'm not a specialist of Indian food and that's well because we didn't find a restaurant in Almora, weird thing for such a town. I went there around 25 years ago, and even if the town has totally changed, I had the impression to find again the same "atmosphere" in this hotel, that is a compliment from me and from my souvenirs.

Excellent location with good food and nice service. Spacious rooms with nice view. Large terrace for kids to play. Very close to main market. Main negative point is dinner timing, restaurant closed at 10 PM. All of Almora closes around 9 pm. I think because it is not typical hill station
