In my view peace loving people will like this hotel the most. I t is in the city but very peaceful. Rooms are good. prompt room service & tasty food in their restaurant. Only thing is that you should have vehicle at your disposal.
Far from the madding crowd

First of all the location...there is a very steep road leading to the hotel, as steep as 80 degrees. Then after you reach the top of the road, you are faced with some sixty odd stairs before you can enter the lobby of the hotel, gasping for breath. If you think you can survive the climb up the road and the walk up the stairs, then read on...
The hotel's lobby is very beautifully decorated with an old world British charm. Best are the picture windows that give an uninterrupted view of the mountains. If you tire of window gazing then there is a billiard table to work on. The hotel also has a games room to keep the young and the old occupied. There are board games like chess, ludo etc and there is a table tennis table and a carom board. Best of all there is a small library which guests are free to use.
The hotel is beautiful. The views are more so. We had deluxe rooms which had views of the Kanchenjunga and the windows overlooked the garden below. After city living, the sounds of chirping birds waking you up is an experience that truly soothes the soul and the senses. And if you are very lucky, as we indeed were, you may get to see the majestic Kanchenjunga right from your bed.
Hotels, however pleasant, do not run by themselves. We found ourselves in the middle of disturbances that rocked Darjeeling on 8th June and wanted to leave early the next day as we had a train to catch. The reception desk was extremely unhelpful and unco-operative in helping us out. They could not also give any assurances on our safety.
The restaurant is good and the food and beverage staff were extremely well-behaved and helpful.
Hopeless hotel

Poor maintanance of the property as a whole
Room service poor - we have to call again and again everyday about towel replacement
bed positioning bad as the switches of the room and power plug to charge your phone is on wall with which bed is attached. So, accessing the switches was bad.
Electric Kettle stinky on arrival
The Hotel is located on a steep incline
-View from some room was really bad .
Front desk hopeless manages by uncooperative kids
Not so happy with Sinclairs, Darjeeling

The people of old age will not happy with the location of this hotel. There is a steep climb before reaching this hotel. In fact, it was difficult for me as well to reach the hotel. I am very much unhappy with this place. The hotel did not bother to inform us regarding the disturbances going on in Darjeeling. In fact, Yatra.com has also failed on this count to inform us in advance because we booked through Yatra and paid the entire money in advance. Both the hotel and travel portal are duty bound to inform their travelling guests about the situation of Darjeeling pertaining to Gorakha-Bangala disturbances and the riot like conditions going on.
Apart from this, the front desk/reception was hopeless. The reception was being managed by inexperienced young kids who did not know how to speak to a guest and failed on every counts. The reception guys were ill-mannered and not trained for such jobs. I don't want to go in details but this kind of hotel shall always be avoided by me in future.
F & B boys were fine and well-behaved. They knew their job. The breakfast spread was poor. The hotel was almost empty on account of the disturbances going on in Darjeeling. This hotel failed on all counts. I repent my choice. Although, views from my room was good.
