Skylark is located on central avenue which is quite close to wholesale market in Nagpur. So someone with work in Itwari or Gandhibagh will find it quite convenient. It is also quite near to the railway station. Food is okay. Rooms are passable. Sleep quality is poor due to lots of noise. Staff is poor. Leisure travellers should avoid it

Skylark bearable

Stayed for a night in the hotel recently. It is located on the central avenue not far from the Nagpur railway station. Room was very spacious with the windows opening towards the main road which made sleeping a bit difficult in view of the heavy traffic and outstation private buses starting from near by. Hotel staff was very polite though the services could be improved. Rooms and toilet are in need of renovation and colouring. Piping in the bathroom/ toilet can be made concealed as it looks shabby. There was big sofa also provided in the room but the stains on the same made it aesthetically un appealing. The menu card also was soaked in the stains of tea- hotel needs to spend some money and pay attention to these small things besides ensuring that the taps and piping in the toilet are properly functional. Staff sleeping in the entrance lobby during the night may be avoided as it presents a clumsy look for the guests. The room lights were also very dull. Room had refrigerator, TV and AC but geezer was missing in the bathroom.

Skylark is overpriced with very minimal facilities

I had to visit Nagpur on a special purpose and it was a sudden plan, so I just searched this hotel and booked this one. Hotel Prices are too expensive, i agree that it was quite competitive price in that locality, but others were providing good service also, whereas Hotel Skylark is 1 out of 5 in Service and quality.
Rooms were smelly, windows structure were badly made if you opt for Non AC room, you will surely get suffocated as there is no way to open the glass properly, Toilets are really a mess.

In Short, I won't recommend this hotel for staying as all facilities are real bad.
Only good thing about thsi hotel is, it has a nice Lounge and Bar facility on 1st Floor, which is a good attraction point for anyone, they do have proper lounge facility and ambience of that hall is good. So only for using that facility, i am giving rating as Average.

Overall totally "NO" for staying here.

Smashed room window, dirty room needing renovated, rat in the restaurant, useless laundry service.

You would have to be desperate to stay at Hotel Skylark.

The England cricket team was in town for the Test match, so we were desperate and travelling on a budget resulted in us ending up here. This was without doubt one of the poorest accommodation choices we made in India (from our 2 month stay in 24 hotels and guesthouses). Having paid in advance online due to low hotel supply (and perceived high demand on our part due to the cricket match) we didn't want to change hotel and lose money and couldn't get a refund.

Staff at reception were welcoming and there is a porter who is really nice and seems to work twice as hard as all the other staff. We took a rickshaw from where our night bus into Nagpur dropped us off and were optimistic on arrival having found a pleasant enough lobby and staff. Everything about our stay was downhill after this.

The double room and en suite we were allocated was small, dirty and in desperate need of something being done to at least make it presentable. Worse still, there were one foot high windows along the very top of the outside wall and one of the panes was smashed, leaving a large hole. Nothing had been attempted to board it up and we certainly weren't going to risk being eaten alive by mosquitos in our sleep. When we complained and asked for a new room, we were told the hotel was full but the manager promised to move us next day (see below). We requested some materials to block up the smashed area and the nice porter came with a thin plank of wood. The next problem was that he had no nails etc so it was just wedged across the area. After he left we had to stuff the remaining gaps with tissue and newspaper.

Next problem arose when we went into the hotel restaurant. Having ordered late breakfast from the very basic menu, we saw a rat crawling around on the floor. We quickly cancelled our food since we couldn't see what state the kitchen was in. The restaurant manager never made any effort to apologise and told us it was just a rat which had crawled in like it happens every day. Great! No food to be consumed there then.

That first night we stayed, we found that the hotel has some kind of club / events room. Loud music with a heavy bass kept us awake until well into the wee small hours.

Next morning we reminded the hotel manager of his promise to move our room, which he reiterated back, and we left for the day's cricket. Surprise surprise on our return we had not been moved rooms. It took 15mins of standing talking with the manager at reception before he finally admitted that the room we were moving to was still occupied by a man who had chosen to stay after check-out time due to a late train departure from the nearby station. We eventually did get a room move late into the evening, after 10pm. The new room was better than the first one in that it was bigger, however it was still dirty and this one reeked of cigarette smoke, the solution to which the hotel thought was to spray a few skooshes of some spray. We opened the window and door and left the fan on for about 90 mins to dilute the smell and even that barely dented it. And worse still this one was right above the club / events room which geared up for an even longer night of round 2 that night. Cue very little sleep again.

We had handed in some laundry to be washed on day 1 and it arrived back on day 3. It's no exaggeration to say that it was returned to us even dirtier than when we handed it in, plus they had managed to ruin some of our clothes by ironing them with far too hot an iron. The nice porter man deals with all the laundry too, which is outsourced to a nearby laundrette. When we explained we couldn't pay for the "work" because of the state it was in on return, he said that he had paid for it personally (expecting payment from us to him in turn) and asked if we could come with him to the laundrette to help get his money back. We couldn't have this nice porter being out of pocket so gladly went with him and the man at the laundrette apologised, refunded the cash he was due and everything was fine. But how does this hotel work if staff have to cover costs personally first? Maybe the porter is left to look after laundry to supplements his income. He is the sole reason I have marked service up from terrible to the dizzy heights of poor and we specifically tipped only him on our way out because he had been so nice.

The hotel is well located for the railway station (10mins walk), but its the wrong side of the railway station for reaching the central part of the city where restaurants etc are so you'll need to rickshaw to there or take a lengthy walk. I appreciate that Nagpur is not a well touristed city, but we felt intimidated in the area around the hotel and there were times when we gave certain groups of men a wide berth for our own safety.

Seriously, I mean that you would have to be desperate to stay here. Find somewhere else because this is your lowest point for a starter.
