What People are saying

Historic, super comfortable and great food at hotel

Tony and Sarah G on 11/06/2017 15:50

Really loved this hotel - our room was large with separate sitting area and big bed so super comfortable. Concierge and front desk always helpful. Loved the fireside room with free wine in happy hour every evening. Food also excellent in adjoining restaurant - both breakfast and dinner and we loved the bar. Hotel has bags of character, historic and cosy - feels like you are staying somewhere special, classic style. Convenient central location although is a walk to good alternative restaurants to the hotel one.

Only negative is that for the price some free water in the room might have been nice and maybe nicer toiletries.

Six Day Stay

This is a true gem. The charm of the exterior continues right into the rooms with well appointed rooms appropriately furnished, but with modern conveniences. The staff was attentive, but unobtrusive. I ordered room service one night and the food seemed like it had sat a little too long under the heating lamps. But, the flavor and quality were both great. I imagine it would have been better in the dining room. There is a friendly bar and a lounge on the ground floor where we could enjoy a complimentary glass of wine after work. If you go to Seattle and you are tired of cookie cutter chain hotels, it doesn't get much better than this!

Excellent value and location

Stayed here over the Memorial Day weekend - 2017. I was impressed with the property, the friendliness of the staff, and the location. I usually prefer not to stay at boutique hotels but am definitely recommending Hotel Sorrento to friends and family.

The only place we stay in Seattle

Pamela F on 29/05/2017 01:18

First class hotel, first class accommodations, first class staff. From the valet to the front desk personnel to the restaurant waitstaff, the friendliest, most personable and professional interactions. Our room was upgraded simply because I mentioned it was our anniversary, with a bottle of wine waiting for us in our room upon arrival. The entire hotel is vintage, quaint, classy. The rooms are nicely sized and appointed and the restaurant setting outside has amazing ambience with a European flare, you nearly forget you're in Seattle. And yet it's just blocks from downtown. It will always be our place to stay when we visit Seattle.

Old Charm, Quaint Room, Good Location

PkFloydLvr2014 on 25/05/2017 14:51

Old Hotels. You either love 'em or hate 'em. Depends if your level of appreciation is for a simpler age or live for the next gadget and can't wait to be jettisoned into a newly declared "chic" boutique. My camp is the former, and I love this place!

Service begins at the front door. Your home for a few nights. How are you welcomed? In my visit in early May, il mio bevenuto from the valet/doorman was warm and helpful in all respects. As was the front desk staff. (The peacock stood guard and looked rather regal, in a cool sort of way.)

My room was a simple single. Clean, well stocked for midnight munchies and French press coffee! Best in-the-room coffee I have ever had!

Linens were nice, excellent toiletries, the room clean, and yes - a bit small for those folks accustomed to boxes passing as hotel rooms.

And of course there are some quirks, like the floor sloping just enough to notice from the door to the bed. The bathroom was updated nicely, but not quite in sync with the décor of the room: All part of the charm of the place.

I had breakfast in the Dunbar Room. I would be surprised if the place has changed much in decades. Being the only customer early one morning, I was treated to the freshest of everything offered. The food was good, the server attentive, and the ambience reminiscent of an old haunt my father took me to when I was a kid. Not fancy, but comfy.

The Fireside Room - Classic Frank and the Boys kinda joint. Don't know if they ever visited for a drink, cigarette and cheep feel, but this was their kind of place back in the day. (Today? No smokes. And a grab will get you in the headlines ... or worse. Still, I bet they would love the place for some martini's.) Nostalgia aside, I enjoyed a well crafted, old school (theme here?) cocktail. The barkeep actually had a muddler and wasn't afraid to use it. Well done.

Location is great. I walked downhill about nine blocks to the docks. (Took Uber back UP the hills.) Not many restaurants in the immediate neighborhood, though.

I travel a lot - and stays at hotels like this are a treat. It is modern enough to be useful (free wifi), yet has plenty of character to my style. I have a new "favorite place" to stay in Seattle.
