What People are saying

Recommended for a short stay!

The best thing was that manager was very polite, helpful and always available. The hotel itself is modest, but it has most of necessities. It is situated a bit far from the downtown, about 25 - 30 minutes walking distance, and far from bars, restaurants and the Cabras amenities. I would recommend it for a short stay only.

Better than expected

It’s nearly 3 week that we come back from Sardinia and spend our last night in SummerTime Hotel.
We were quite concern about some comments on Trip visor over this hotel. But the location suited very well into our Tour schedule. So we give it a chance.
Indeed, this is a family hotel in which with few people the run an hotel. Comparable as a B&B.

Location: At the arrival and on the map you think this B&B its far from the center… but byfoot would be 15 to 20 min by car only 5…that it’s in fact very near.
Overview: For those for which is very important to be attend in each part of the hotel for a different person and does not understand the meaning of a Entrepreneur and one owner company, this is not your hotel.
The hotel looks like in the photos, Reception, communal Areas and rooms are new, clean and proper decorated.
Building well take care of and clean.
Bathroom big and clean.
Shower: nice full water, quickly heated.
Towels: nice, new, clear and nice smell
BED: clean, nice mattress quite new. (I did not like the printing of the bedspread, in my opinion, not really fitting with the other modern decoration, but further than that was new and clean)
Bed sheets: the textile feels like cotton, clean.
Breakfast: Italian breakfast, for those who does not know what that means… and you are diabetic! Bring your own food.
Sweets, bread and nice coffee (a freshly baked croissant were truly delicious).
Served on the small bar/restaurant from the building.
Not really luxurious, but all together it’s a good start form the day.
Personal: family business, all people very kind and helpful. No complaint about it.
Parking: enough parking, free.
Neighborhood: outside the center, in front of the Flamingos lagoon. Family leaving area, not dangerous at all. Save feeling.
Outdoor garden: Indeed the garden needs extra work, but since went on autumn/winter, I can really judge how it would look during summer, when actually you can really enjoy the swimming pool area.

Conclusion: If you don’t “dream” on receiving a 6*’s goods for the price of a Good B&B, then you will have a good chance of like this Family running business.

I'm not really sure where to start but I'll have a go as I'm still laughing at our experience.

Rosanno is the owner of Summertime and does try his best but don't expect this hotel to be run like the Ritz...... it isn't.

If you want coffee for breakfast order it the night before as it MIGHT just be ready for you and hot, breakfast itself was fairly hit and miss and although we didn't complain others did. It was pretty basic and not what I'd expected with just bread and jam and croissant (1 each) on offer. After a couple of days the fruit juice appeared, the Americano was mostly warm and rarely hot the same can be said about the Cappucino.

There is great potential for this hotel but Rosanno must get the pool sorted out, provide pool side cover and get the gardens finished, have someone at reception or close by 24/7 as I saw many arriving guests have a long wait to check in he also lost potential guests by not being there.

Hire competent staff, provide a decent seating area with tables, chairs and umbrellas and provide a bit of complimentary hospitality to long stay guests.

Our room was without a TV and Fridge for 2 days until someone vacated another room we then got there's. The shower was OK but the water didn't drain quick enough so there was a bit of a flood. We had to remind the cleaning girls to change the sheets but the day before we left one of the bedside lamps disappeared!

The location is excellent for Torregrande or Pontile beaches and Cabras. There is a Pizza restaurant in the hotel serving pretty good food and another further down the road toward Cabras. Oristano is a 10 minute drive away, well worth a visit.

Overall, staying at Summertime was an experience and if Rosanno does get round to making improvements I'd stay there again. 7/10

great location and friendly stay

Micky Mouse Hotel run by Mr. Bean - Not advisable

The man who manages the hotel is also the receptionist, porter, bar man and waiter. He seems to have no clue about what he is doing and comes across completely incompetent. Instead of booking online we booked directly at the reception. This took one hour for him to find an empty room. When we arrived to check in the room the next day it was not ready, he asked us to return in an hour. We returned three hours later and he still had no room for us, he spent a further 40 minutes scratching his head trying to find a room. His standard phrase being…”urgh….one moment”… He then finally showed us to the room then gave us two options we could choose, either a twin room or a room set up as a double. We don’t know why it took him so long to find a room for us as there were several empty in the hotel. The doors of the empty rooms are left open and accessible to all.

At first glance the rooms look ok, but look a little deeper and you will begin to see the faults. Wires hanging out of the walls, wrongly fitted and dangerous plugs and electrics in the room, un-matching bedside lamps, poorly tiled bathrooms, small bathroom mirror installed quite high, so women be warned you may have to stand on your tip toes to see into the mirror and use the hairdryer. No other mirror in the room. Lovely whirlpool baths but installed wrongly so just makes a mess and pumps the hair and grime from previous guests in to the bath, un-matching and stained towels. Rumble from the extraction fan in the bathroom could be heard all of the time. Toilet roll was not replaced when empty so we had to pinch one from the empty rooms. Our room was not cleaned we had a lot of trash and no one came to empty it although we had been out the whole day, we left the trash next to their housekeeping trolley in the corridor and again pinched an empty bin from an empty room. The manager claimed the sheets were clean but they had blood on them we exchanged the sheets ourselves with ones from the other empty rooms. TV has three channels and only in Italian. Black out curtains in the room so you can choose between total black out or total exposure to any other guests you may find walking on the communal terrace area. Door to the terrace not well installed so one can hear the wind blowing outside the room. Wifi connection was via an exposed box and loose wire in the corridor, missing fire extinguishers in the hallways, broken lights in the corridors so if you return late at night good luck trying to find the door, door bells on the hotel rooms this was a first for me..one of the other guests was struggling in the dark to find the light and pressed our door bell we were all a bit surprised. Swimming pool tiny, not looked after and unfinished, this looked again like another hazard. I had ordered some French fries one night, they arrived and tasted like fish.

For breakfast, I lost my temper with them and we went to buy our own at a local supermarket. We arrived to an unorganised mess. Several guests sat at their tables all with the same look of desperation and unbelief on their faces. The waitress is also the cleaning lady who runs around in her grubby tracksuit that she also cleans with and only speaks Italian, the coffee maker and cook is also her assistant cleaner a greasy little man who looks in desperate need of a bath. The breakfast buffet was totally empty and all tables that had been set up for breakfast had been left dirty. We removed the pots and dirty table cloth from the previous guests and sat to wait. After 30 minutes the waitress appeared we signalled for tea and were signalled back to wait. Finally she appeared, we ordered two teas with milk. We saw here going around the other guests looking for an empty tea pot. She then brought two teas to us without milk. We asked again for milk but this never came. She asked if we wanted the ham and tomato platter which the other guests were eating, which we did not. We just asked for bread, butter and cutlery. She returned with a fork for each of us, we had to ask her for the rest. She returned with a knife and made a gesture as if to say “so are you happy now”, we had to bother her again for a plate and I don’t think serviettes existed. Meanwhile she also replenished the breakfast buffet with carton juices and plastic cups. After a further 30 minutes she eventually arrived with the bread…which was still frozen. At which point I had to leave. Total idiots! I was not able to speak to the ‘manager’ anymore as I was ready to explode at him.

My husband spoke with him later at the check out and received another 30 minute explanation from the manager about how hard it was for him to find good staff and difficult it was for him to run a hotel by himself….in which case then get another job and give up!! He reduced the bill by four miserable euros for the lack of breakfast for a two night stay. The rest of the restaurant looked nice but given that it is a pizzeria and there just so happens to be a pizzeria situated just a few steps away from the hotel, I bet money that they just run across the street to collect a pizza whenever they get any orders, at the check in the manager advised us to book for dinner if we want it and it would also be helpful to his kitchen staff as they buy fresh food daily for the restaurant. Given our experiences at the hotel I would guess this is total rubbish!!

Our experiences of accommodation in Cabras were terrible and I would advise not to stay there!!! The only sad part is that the beeches in that area were some of the best we found on the whole island. There really is a huge market for good hoteliers in that area. As for the summertime hotel well it looks great at first sight but has a long long way to go before it becomes anyway near acceptable, we find it is such a great shame because it could have a lot of potential. I would never recommend to stay there it isn’t worth even one cent!!
