Weeks break at hotel Tiempo, Naples

As reported in other reviews the staff were friendly and could not be more helpful. The reports regarding "pickpockets operating at the central station" are spot on. I was carrying my wife's rucksack over one shoulder when the zip was opened by a foreign gentleman who quickly melted into the crowd when I turned and faced him. The answer is try to pass through the station on a trian, not on foot. The hotel is in an industrial, Chinese quarter, but we never felt uneasy walking to/from the local train station. Note. There are 2 different train stations depending if you want the Metro or the Circumvesuviana trains. The second was not shown on any of our maps. We did encounter a large number of nightly mosquitos in the hotel room, or rather my wife did! Overall we had a great time and would recommend the hotel as a great, cheap place to be based for visiting Naples and surrounding area. We took our own travel kettle, a must for a late/early cupper. We had a 3rd floor room, 329, with balcony and even though most nights had large school/student groups staying we were not disturbed by noise

Good value for money

Hotel is modern and on the fringes of Naples...That's not a bad thing allowing easy exit to AutoStrada for Herculean etc and 15min drive to heart of Naples. Breakfast room is extensive but breakfast menu variety was bare. Room size was medium. Reception desk staff was very friendly especially the lady who checked us in at night.

Some good some bad points

1. Helpful, friendly, English speaking staff.
2. Free shuttle bus from hotel to Naples centre in the evenings. Would have been helpful if this also ran during the day as hotel was 6 kms from centre. Starting evening service an hour earlier, at 7pm, would enable earlier access to centre hotels for dinner. After a day site seeing we needed an earlier dinner.
3. Single beds narrow for adults, more suitable for children.
4. No restuarant - could use sister hotel next door but food there unimpressive and restuarant overwhelmed by many coach parties.
5. Free, on site car parking excellent facility.
6. No local shops and surrounding area run-down. Would not walk around this area at night eg prostitutes working down street.
7. Would be helpful if hotel info in room included more information about location of local facilites and how to access them.
8. Hotel tours expensive, especially for couples who could not share price with larger groups.
9. Air conditioning ineffective - could not cool room below 23 degrees.

Okay hotel Very Bad Area

The hotel was clean and the staff helpful, had to change rooms but they sorted it out very well, had two days with the tour guide who operates from the hotel they were amazing, the shuttle bus on the evening is excellent just a shame nothing available in the day, the metro station is about ten minutes walk but I didn’t feel confident to try this and the area is so so bad, couldn’t find any local bars or restaurants. I cannot express enough about how bad the area really is and a taxi just to outskirts of town is 15-20 euros. Had a fab time tho it was definitely an experience.

Trip naples

We went to this hotel for a trip to Naples. Ok hotel, small rooms but all right.Bad dirty neighbourhood but trainstation 5 minutes away. But unfortunateley when we came back from a day in town we realized that a bottle of wine we bought in the city was suddenly gone from the room. Staff did not care at all, not even a apology for the fact that something like that happened :-) had to pay an amount for the citytax, when i paid it staff suddenly came up with another amount which we had to pay as well... never mind, we had a fun trip.
