Worst stay ever

My room was floaded due to heavy rain and leaking roof. Had to change bedroom and while moving rooms, I was horrified seeing most of the corridors were floaded too. My new bedroom was terrible. The bed was in front of windows and it was impossible to sleep as there was as much daylight in the room than there was outside. The tv is not even hanged in front of the bed but in the middle of the room about 2m away from the nearest bed. Needed to have a bucket near me everytime I wanted to brush my teeth, the water pressure was so high that the water was flowing out of the sink... at least the shower was working properly. The rooms look better in the pics than in real. The staff was helpful and tried to make my stay better. Overall, I do NOT recommend this hotel and I give an overated 1 out 5

Excellent boutique hotel in Cali

Stayed here on our vacation through Colombia. Our friends had recommended this hotel and we stayed for 4 nights during our trip.

We arrived in the early evening and check-in was smooth. Our luggage was taken up the 2nd floor. Our room was nicely sized with 2 beds, a large closet, working desk, a fridge, kitchen sink and flat screen TV. The room was clean and the a/c worked which was important as Cali is quite warm this time of the year. There is a bathroom with shower only which had good water pressure. Although the bed was hard (found this the same in all the hotels in Colombia), I slept well as it was quiet.

The architecture of the hotel was interesting. Lots of open space, our bedroom faced inward into the courtyard of the hotel. We had the opportunity to go to the roof. Although I did not climb the tower, there is a great view of Cali.

As others mentioned, the area is funky. Reminds of the east village in the 80s. There appears to be an abandoned lot a few doors down. However, if you keep walking after making a right from the hotel, there is a clean, modern grocery store and several good restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is expanding, they appear to taking over the building next door.

Staff were excellent. We had the continental breakfast each day downstairs. Choice of cereal or eggs with fresh fruit, juice and coffee. Simple but enough to start the day. People always smiled and tried to understand our Spanish. Isabela who worked on the front desk spoke English and was great. We also did laundry while we were there (fees were the lowest of all the hotels we stayed at).

Check-out was smooth. The hotel arranged a car for me to the Cali airport which arrived on time. Overall, we had a great time visiting friends and seeing Cali. This isn't a luxurious hotel but a no frills boutique hotel. Great for the value.

Can't wait to return

I stayed here for three days during our vacation to Cali with my wife and two daughters. This was the first time we have traveled to Cali. The experience was simply put, way beyond my expectations.

Physically, the design of the hotel was clean, modern, and very stylish. There was an open common space and a breakfast area that was very inviting and lent itself to lounging around with a cup of coffee at breakfast. The building wouldn't seem out of place in SOHO in my hometown of NYC. The room I stayed in had a very comfortable beds, a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel, a flat screen HDTV (the other hotels I stayed in Columbia didn't have this), a refrigerator, a kitchen sink, and AC unit. The place was super clean on arrival and was restored to that condition upon our return every night.

As good as the accommodations were, the service was even better. The staff took care of our every need and answered all of our questions. Whether if it was asking for ice, moving our luggage, or getting us more Arepas (Corn cakes), the service was immediate and exceedingly friendly.

The area around the hotel was also a fine experience. Just steps away from the hotel were great restaurants, night clubs, a high end grocery store, banks, and boutique shops. We had burgers and shakes at a place called "El Corral". One of the best burgers I've ever had and there was something for the whole family there.

To sum it up, I would recommend this hotel to any leisure or business traveler to Cali. The price that we paid for the three nights was more than fair. I actually would have expected to pay more, but who's complaining? I have a wife, two kids, great memories, and a ton of extra Columbian Pesos as a result of my stay at Torre del Viento.

This hotel was designed by the architect, Rafael Llano and decorated by his daughter Carolina, who is a painter. Visually, it's beautiful to look at and to be in, although the hotel has the 'basics' of a very hospitable and accomodating 2-star lodging. The decorum is of black, white, and orange is also complimented with beautiful plants and natural lighting from the sun that seems to reach every corner of this hotel.
Our room had a moderate-sized double bed, a simple bathroom - done in good taste - and a kitchen, mini-fridge, and stove. Our window looked out on the central patio.
Breakfast is also very basic, with bread/toast, coffee or tea and then local fruits (which are to die for, by the way).
The staff is very helpful. We speak Spanish, so I'm not sure of their command of English, but they will go out of their way to fulfill anything that is required - including running errands to pick up what is needed for you from the store.
The name, Torre del Viento, meaning 'Tower of the Wind' in English, actually has a small tower that that extends enough above the top floor so that if you decide to climb up to the top, you get a good view of the rooftops of your area.
The street itself it 'funky-ish', but it is still in a well-to-do middle class area, and if you walk down to the corner and head to the right you'll find nice, hip bars and restaurants, as well as other businesses.
