Great staff, amazing location. My preschool daughter, mom, and myself had a a stay-cation here and loved it. We were fortunate enough to stay in their penthouse which is a gorgeous duplex with a private deck. We'll definitely return!

Hotel is perfectly located. Nice service from front desk, housekeeping and most of all Tom from concierge service. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely book in this hotel again next time we come back to San Francisco

We were exploring the SF and the Bay area over a 4 day stay, and not really spending too much time at the hotel. We were looking for a clean room, in a central location at a reasonable price and this hotel ticked all those boxes.
The rooms were a little tired the bathroom was tiny but both were clean.
We stayed on the 2nd floor in a street facing room but it was quiet at night
Uber’s found it hard to find the address
The staff were helpful.
Most importantly, they have a wine hour each night.

This hotel is right in the middle of everything! A very short block from the BART station and the spot where you pick up a trolley car. There are plenty of restaurants around and a Walgreens across the street for those quick things you forgot. I picked up Ubers pretty easily and all the hop on, hop off bus tours have a stop just about 2 blocks away at Union Square itself.
The staff is super friendly and tries their best to accommodate your every need. They even tried to work with me to get a massage therapist in room but the scheduling didn't quite work out. The lobby has wine for an hour in the evening and tea / coffee in the morning (all free).
My room was upgraded to an ADA king which was great! Tons of room and comfy furniture. The window just looked out on a brick wall next door but otherwise everything was very nice.

I have been staying at this hotel for years, and through several changes of ownership, and it has only gotten better (except I do miss the mermaid on the third floor). It has an interesting history, and although I have not seen any ghosts, there is definitely a '20s vibe. I keep expecting to see Dash and his pals coming up from the speakeasy after a wild night. Outstanding staff. If you want a hotel with atmosphere to spare, good people and windows that actually do open more than an inch, this is the place.
