I always had this 'wary' feeling about hotels and restaurants located near railway stations, and till date never opted to go for such hotels and restaurants.
Around 10 days back, I had to be in Coimbatore for a meeting and be back in Chennai on the same day. So I wanted a place close to the railway station. Saw good reviews on Vaidurya...but what impressed me the most was the professional way in which the proprietor / manager responded to few negative reviews. I decided to give it a try.
I sent them an e-mail requesting for a room for a same day check-out. In a couple of hours, I got an e-mail from their end confirming my booking (inclusive of breakfast; and a 10% discount).
When I reached there in the morning, the check-in was smooth. The room, though simple, was neat and clean.
One small (little funny) observation regarding breakfast. I asked for a ghee roast, a plate of vada sambar (2 pieces) and coffee. I think the restaurant manager wasn't too happy about my vada sambar order. He called the waiter and murmured something, post which the waiter brought me a single (one piece) vada sambar. I didn't argue. A small suggestion here...it would be a good idea to have a 'set menu' for breakfast for those staying in the hotel, so that the customers know what to expect and unknowingly don't go overboard.
Overall, a good short stay.

Vaidurya used to be one among the many hotels in a narrow lane, right opposite to main entrance of Coimbatore Junction for travellers by train to alight for an overnight stay and to hop on the return train.. I am used to this hotel for nearly 20 years where a friend of mine usually stays..today, we were both pleasantly surprised to see the renovated look and comfortably appointed rooms, both single and double with or without a/c and all basic 2-star amenities..this popular hotel will get much more popular..

I have been a regular customer with Hotel Vaidurya for the last 8 years. Because of the services they provide and rates, I have never checked into any other Hotel in Coimbatore, I Checked-in on 8th August recently and was happy to note the consistency in the services . The rooms are maintained well and the staff were as courteous and helpful as ever. I truly felt "At Home"

I don't recommend this hotel for stay for any professional. The charges are as high as 3 star hotels but the quality of the room and maintenance of the toilet and neatness is very bad. People are unreliable especially the ladies working at the reception. The employee steals your items if you are not careful or if you forget anything. Beware before you book this hotel online. Don't fall in trap with the receptionist sweet talk with faltering tongue and rates.
