Hidden gem near Anton Lizardo

This is a beautiful little oasis in the middle of the coastal dunes. It has gorgeous landscaped grounds with trees, tropical plants, and native birds to keep you company. It has a few cabanas spaced out around the property and a very nice pool and restaurant. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the hot water is plentiful. The beach is not that nice, with no shade trees and lots of driftwood but that is the nature of Caribbean beaches around the area. The best part of the place is the staff. They were always friendly and helpful and took care of all of our needs. They don't speak much English so a knowledge of Spanish is helpful. The restaurant is great but it closes at 5 PM so if you are a late eater, you will need to drive or take a taxi about 10 minutes to Boca del Rio. If you like a quiet place off the beaten path, this is the best place.
Hotel for relaxation

Surrounded by vegetation this hotel screams “relaxation” , rooms are cabin-like with good AC, which is really nice with temperatures at 90° and humidity at 65%.
The pool is clean and beach is a few steps away. Wifi signal only in the little restaurant. I suggest you rent a car since the hotel is around 20~40 minutes away from downtown Veracruz, is you decide to use taxi, be prepared to spend around 300 MXN, the staff will get you one. Is worth to mention that the staff leaves the facilities at 6pm, after that hour only two guards spend the night, so you will need to inform them if you will arrive after hours. One last thing, watch out for the little crabs in the night!
We had a great time!

This was a holiday booked through LDS travel. We came with our 4 children ages 11-23. This hotel is out side veracruz which is just what we loved the most. We were rubbing shoulders with the people and not just a tourist perspective. We stayed at the villas in a rustic but clean cabin. The indoor pool was out the back door and the beach was out the front. It had a stocked kitchen with water dispenser, breakfast everyday, lovely staff. It felt like we were on a guest ranch and treated like family. Loved the horse stables and peacocks. They drove us everywhere and provided interpreters who felt like family. The owner is very knowledgeble and we loved the tour of the ruins. Each day was a new adventure with kayaking, whitewater rafting, snorkling, beach bon fire, horseback riding. My son loved the donkey! We painted ceramics. Visited an orphanage, the Malls, ethnic dancing and Local artisans shops. THe on site restaurant had great pizza we also loved the seafood, chinese and tortilla restaurants and carls Jr. We came just before the swine flu breakout and we are all fine. We trusted them to tell us where was safe to eat. Great memories and pictures of Villa Palmira. We would come again!
Privacy, peace and quiet, walk the beach

We arrived in Veracruz after Christmas without reservations and couldn't get any room n a hotel in the city. We asked a desk clerk at the Holiday Inn where the rich people have houses thinking there would be a nice hotel nearby. She directed us to the wrong area-just poverty stricken deserted houses amidst some new high rise condos. It was pitch black and we spotted a sign for this place and went in. They had a vacancy and we stayed three days. Perfect place, unless you want luxury. Clean, spacious "villas," in natural setting, lovely deserted beach that goes on forever with lots of beautiful driftwood. Nice massage. Windy. Not hot, not cold. No bugs. Nice people. Pool. Very quiet. Simple breakfast delivered to room without request. Horses, peacocks that wander around, nothing for us to do really, but sit on our porch in our rocking chairs and read and talk, walk on the beach. This is exactly what we were looking for although we didn't know it til we got here. Huge bed. Really the simplist, nicest place in the world and we'd go back in a second. Not much hot water, and you have to drive for meals. Good Pollo Felix nearby for eat in or take out grilled chicken. The restaurant on site was not to our taste. Veracruz and Boca del Rio offer terrific seafood restaurants, mostly cheap and delicious. If you want to be waited on hand and foot and need a social life, this is not for you.
