Breakfast with Grandma

My husband and I stopped here with our 4-year-old niece on a 2-hour-drive home. We needed a place to sit and food at a reasonable price. We got to sit down and get coffee. They have a bakery counter filled with treats to go as well. This is the place where the octagenarians go to hang out.
Bakery goods and sandwiches

Jubelt's has been around for generations. I know I'm going to get the best bakery goods that can be had and they have great sandwiches which draw a huge lunch crowd.
Just what we wanted.

My husband and I visited Jubelts while traveling on Route 66. It was a cold rainy and windy day and we both wanted some hot soup for a late lunch. Jubelts had just what we wanted on their menu. We both had the vegetable beef soup with corn muffins. The soup was hot and hearty and the muffins were sweet and light. The atmosphere was comfortable and the temperature was warm...just like it should be on a cold day. Other restaurants should take note of this!! Since we ate a light lunch we had room for dessert- a chocolate donut for me and an apple tart for my husband. Not a crumb left at our table. i don’t think you can go wrong here.
A place To Return To

Here's a great little cafe style restaurant you'll want to visit while traveling I-55. Just a few blocks off the interstate, on old Rt 66, this place has character, good service and great food. Prices are reasonable, the food is fresh and tasty, and you'll want to check out the bakery on the way out - always a sweet treat to take home. We enjoyed a light dinner here - I had the bean and ham soup, which was outstanding, and my wife had the Mediterranean flatbread, a unique and tasty dish with hummus, vegetables and topped with feta cheese. It was grilled, and served with steak fries...really good ones! It was obvious that many locals eat here, which is a good sign, and the menu variety is outstanding. Whether you want homemade soups, deli sandwiches salads, baskets, burgers, sides or snacks, they have it all. And, they serve breakfast all day long, so you'll want to order some pancakes, waffles or Belgian waffles, even if you aren't hungry for breakfast. I give them a grade fo A and highly recommend a stop to enjoy a good meal.
Like homemade soup? A must stop

Stopped to sample the bakery items and had bowls of home made chicken n dumplings and loaded baked potatoes soup. Very pleasant waitress handled our indecisiveness in stride and brought fresh quiche after the soup. Soups were Real home made. Quiche helping was more than we could eat even though we were sharing one.
This is what small town privately owned restaurants and bakeries were for decades. We recommend making Jubelt's a must stop if you are on the Rt 66 trail.
