Staying on Housboat Lily of Nageen was a personal and nice experience. Charming Mr. Nabi and Zohur were very caring hosts, inquiring about and fulfilling food wishes, putting wood in the oven to ensure I would not freeze, offering but not imposing conversation. Kashmiri hospitality at its best!
The houseboat is kept very clean and has a cosy ambience with wood furniture, many textiles, a living room with books and broschures.
Hot water was available and wifi worked well.
Since it was a bit chilly at times (after sunset), I would probably choose a different season for a return trip to Kashmir.

As is obvious from the name, the house boat is located on the banks of lake Nageen. We had some difficulty locating it on our way back from Narnag as local enquiries didn't help. However, the place is marked in Google Maps and we used it to reach the vicinity. Some phone calls to the owner and to the caretaker helped us reach the house boat.
First look at the rooms and we were completely awed by the interiors. Every thing seems to be made of wood, in fact, everything is made from wood and this gave a royal look and a premium feel to the entire place. After a good bath in the Jacuzzi, we felt refreshed and were served with hot tea and snacks.
A park is located in the bank and we spent some time interacting with Kashmiri people, who are extremely warm and welcoming. The sunset was beautiful and we had a good view from top of the boat. Bedrooms are cozy, warm and more importantly, fresh. There is no musty smell because of the wood and no dampness. That night's sleep was peaceful as it was difficult to know what time of the day it is once the curtains are closed.
There are two bed rooms, one dining area, a kitchen and a living room in the house boat. Its ideally suited for a family of 4-6.
We were served breakfast the next morning. It's the standard fare of bread, butter, jam, omlette and tea. The owner, Imtiyaz, is helpful and it was nice talking to him post breakfast. He arranged airport transfers and suggested good places to eat on the way. Overall, it was a pleasant experience staying in Houseboat Lily of Nageen and I would definitely recommend it for people looking at alternate options.

We spent three weeks visiting India whilst on our Honeymoon.
And finished our trip with a five nights stay on Houseboat Lily of Nageen and we have to say this was the perfect place to finish our trip.
I cannot speak highly enough of both the boat and the wonderful family that own the boat.
The food was first class, in fact the best we have tasted whilst in India.
We were even given a cookery class and also presented with a cake to mark our honeymoon.
A special mention to Ajaz who prove to be the perfect host , always attentive by never intrusive.
The views from the houseboat are amazing and sitting on the top whilst tg sun goes down are truly memorable.
So a big thank you to all the family .

There are literally hundreds of houseboats in Srinagar so its quite difficult to choose one. We chose Lily of Nageen because it was situated on Nageen Lake which is much quieter than Dal Lake and you approach it through a public garden so its an ideal location. The houseboat was very comfortable and clean and we had it all to ourselves. The thing that made it special though was Ajaz who looked after us. He was extremely helpful and interesting to talk to and made sure we had everything we needed. The owner organised for us to go for a walk up in the hills about an hour and a half outside Srinagar and Ajaz came with us and acted as guide. It was a real highlight of our trip, following the river up through the mountains, passing goats, sheep and cows and chickens along the way. Having Ajaz really sets this houseboat apart and I would highly recommend staying here.

It is located in between a quiet serene lake and a park with full of trees and flowers. Wonderful hospotality along with great food. You can expect professional high level services all through your stay. Very clean room, excellent furneshment, and warm family members.
