Last week we ate there for the second time. The first time was good, but I found pricey for just 'good', however last week, we were a large group (18 I think), the food was very good indeed, smoked salmon starters - a generous portion, followed by filet mignon with a nut crust and then pannecote - really delicious and I felt like I had eaten in a fine parisien establishment.

We lighted on the des Voyageurs Hotel-Restaurant while travelling south through France, stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer. The room was clean, bright, comfortable, not especially large but provided everything we could need. However it was the warmth of the welcome by William and Christelle and their staff, and the wonderful food that made our stay so special. The decor in the dining room was modern, tasteful and our Formule menu outstanding. Tarnac is a lovely village set in rolling countryside with ample walking opportunities. That said it is remote and not on any normal route so a diversion is required to visit. That effort would be well rewarded and we hope to return for a longer visit in the future.

Although the restaurant decor was excellent and the service faultless, we found the plat du jour not really value for money. Advertised outside as 'from' 14 Euros we actually paid almost 19 euros without a cheese platter or coffee. The entree, though very artistic was nothing to write home about and there was no choice for any course as one might have had for a workers lunch that is customarily served in this region by other establishments. So a simple meal and one beer for two came to 42 Euros. We left feeling fleeced.

Lovely litle hotel in rather out-of-the way spot - Tarnac wasnt on our map so we had a little trouble finding it and the hotel itself doesnt open 24\7 so try nott o arrive mid-afternoon!!
Dinner was outstanding, terrific food, big portions too - great value for money

A very agreeable 2 nights spent at this hotel. We had a family room for 3, plus a single room for our older teenager. The hostess was very welcoming and attentive. Food and wine excellent on both evenings, but the breakfast was good, too. A quiet village in a lovely region. We will happily return.
