We stayed 1 night - when we first entered the room there was a man and woman in our room having a meeting! The breakfast was mediocre - water not even boiling for the egg machine. The room was tired, dull and shabby. View was good but other hotels on the water. Lady at the reception not helpful.

regret l ,to say that the hotel is very shabby ,the reception lady was very good and helpful. The bath was lacking plug and many of the wall switchs were damaged With regard to breakfast it was supposed open 8am un till 9am however it was still not completely serviced at 8.30 and pleased be advised that they do not serve an evening meal However the views from the bedrooms are very relaxing

Arcachon is one of those Atlantic coast French resorts with a small permanent population of only 12,000, but which in season rises to about 500,000. I had booked two nights at the Hotel Les Vagues through the Logis de France website as from experience I knew that Logis hotels were individual, privately owned and of a reasonable standard. The website described the hotel as "modern" which is stretching it a bit, and the restaurant which had been awarded two "marmites" had closed for the winter three days before I arrived.
Hotel plus points. Off-street parking. Medium size - only 30 rooms, half of them with magnificent sea views. Step out of the hotel onto the beach. Well stocked breakfast buffet. Clean room with good en suite bathroom.
Hotel minus points. Rather tired and old-fashioned. Room rather compact. Neither restaurant nor bar open which meant a fairly long walk to the centre of Arcachon, and back, where there was a selection of formulaic beach front restaurants. Less than ideal when it is raining.
Arcachon plus points. For the architectural historian much of this town is pure heaven with a stunning range of bel epoque villas. The area is world-famous for its oysters and seafood generally. Good shopping area with fashionable brand shops, and even a nearby branch of Sotheby's International Realty to cater for the expensive holiday homes in the area, priced from €3m upwards. Easy access to some excellent surfing beaches. Local attractions include the Grand Dune de Pyla, the largest sand dune in Europe. Definitely worth a visit.
Arcachon minus points. Much of the town shuts down at the end of September, but in high season it is uncomfortably busy.

Really amazing view from our room, the beach, the sea.
The bedroom and bathroom were rather dull, but this hotel is all about the view!
Great bar , we didn't eat at the hotel but it's easy to walk into the centre of Archachon where there are lots of places to eat and fun shops. We also went to other beautiful beaches nearby. We were lucky and there was a space in the rather small car park.

We spent 2 nights and were extremely grateful to get a room on the 4th floor with sea view. The room is not very big, but clean and has everything, even minibar. But the most amazing of course is the view as the hotel is located directly at the beach. Breakfast is good, especially the coffee. Hotel is 10 min walk from city center.
