I would say the hotel is just making a 3 star rating, only because the rooms have air conditioning. The room decor is dated and it looks more like the place is headed for 2 stars than 4. Nice location across from the beach. If you don't expect extras this hotel is ok.

Had lovely room overlooking beach just across the road, friendly staff and lovely food, the weather was beautiful, lots of cafes and r estuarants close by, great place for 3night stay nice walks on the promenade, very romantic

Stopped here overnight on a leg of our charity bike ride.Whilst room was ok this was one of the more expensive rooms we booked and in comparison wasn't up to scratch.Receptionists whilst they did their job totally lacked any kind of personable service with virtually no interaction with us other than to give us our key. It did the job but nothing more.

We're not really beach people but decided we couldn't do a tour of the south of France without a couple of days by the Med. We paid extra for a sea view at this seafront hotel situated above a mainly seafood restaurant. The room was large, well-equipped and comfortable. The toilet was separate from the bathroom, itself set apart from the bedroom. All was very roomy, and there was a small separate seating area in front of the window to sit and watch the world go by when we weren't on the beach. The air con worked very well. The noise from the beach and restaurant was easily shut out when not required by the excellent double glazed window and electronic external blind. Staff were friendly and efficient. Not too sure why so many reviews say this is 'retro', maybe we had a room that had been refurbished as there was nothing old-fashioned about any of it. We were disappointed with the restaurant though so didn't opt for the breakfast, Port La Nouvelle having plenty of other boulangeries and cafes etc to meet those needs. Our only difficulty was that we were travelling by train and it is quite a walk from the station - not bad on the way back when we could explore the town and quay a little, but quite a hot trek on a sunny August afternoon.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. I paid extra for a room with a sea view and we were not disappointed. We had a good sized room at the top of one flight of stairs with views of the beach and sea just across the road.
The room was well equipped and air conditioned which was very welcome. The bathroom was a little tired and would benefit from a revamp. Everything worked OK and was clean but the shower screen leaked badly and flooded the floor.
The hotel has a lovely restaurant and we ate dinner there twice. Good selection of food, staff very friendly.
On the last night we ate out on the terrace and enjoyed watching a firework display whilst drinking our coffees. A lovely end to our holiday.
