Changbai Shan is very beautiful. I am very lucky because I have seen the best part of this region-Heaven Lake. My trip there was very convenient because the staffs of Hyatt always helped to prepare my in-house/outdoor activities, i.e., food, coat, vehicle etc. I would not experience such a perfect trip without this hotel’s assistance.

The hotel is within a very large resort, where there are other hotel brands like Sheraton, Westin, etc. Hyatt is close to the resort entrance, skiing park and shopping/restaurant street. So the location is very convenient.
The room is well designed and clean. From the balcony I can see the beautiful mountain.
The swimming pool (there is an outdoor hot spring pool ) is perfect.
Finally, I want to say, please must not miss the Tianchi Lake (Heaven Lake) of Changbaishan Mountain. It's so amazing.

The ski resort is only 30mins away from the airport and they have free shuttle between the resort & airport. Ski pass & gear rental are included in the room price which is great! Hotel room was clean and well maintained, staffs were friendly & helpful.

This is the most busy hotel in the resort village, you have to booking in advance to get a room in high season like new year or lunar new year.
Park Hyatt and Hyatt Regency are under the same management team, they are the best hotel in the resort village, they are the only 2 hotel have their own snow house ( ski center), which make everything much more conveniently.
Hyatt Regency snow house is near Intermediate Piste, Park Hyatt snow house is near Advanced Piste.
I stay in Club Deluxe King room this time, which is equal to junior suite in other chain like Marriott, SPG or IHG. The room is OK. But you will hear roller noise in the early morning after sonw, if you are in the ski Field side you will hear roller every day.
Since this is not my first visit, the staff are already known me and very warm.
Overall, Changbaishan is the one and only best ski field in china, Hyatt Regency is one of the best hotel in there, it will definitely worth for the trip if you love ski.

The bad outweighed the goods maybe 5 to 1.
Arriving at 12 thinking I could get on the ski fields early was met with a rude reception TELLING me I had to come back later and he has to process all checkouts first.
Walked around the empty street for an hour and returned for checkin.
English is very poor across the board here. I was told take key and ID to use facilities. After checkin taking too long and missing the daytime ski session I decided to use the hot pool. Once finding it (is only a 5 minute walk though is outside). Reaching there I was turned away for not having a key. 5 minutes walk back to reception and they explained in poor english I had to go to the ski house with my ID to get a key as key doesn't mean hotel key it is a small black dongle. Getting back to my room which was a high floor overlooking the mountains though a solid 5 minutes from reception down a maze of corridors (was essentially above almost the hot pool though to get back you have to go back up the hill to reception then back down outside).
It had taken so long and had probably walked 3-5km's back and fourth. It was now close to night time ski session.
5 minutes walk to ski house I line up and eventually get my key a challenge with no english. I picked up my hire gear, getting boots two sizes to small as this was their largest (46) and paying for a locker, I was on the ski fields. After getting around to the front of the fields my key as it turned out was not properly activated and I was told to go to the main ski house, burnt half an hour in lines and being told it should work and go try it again... not what you'd expect to hear.
Ski fields were all beginner and intermediate though given 4 hours of being messed about and walking from one side to the other side I hadn't the energy to ski in boots that small for that long.
Returning the gear I walked 5 minutes to the room. 5 minutes to reception and 5 minutes back to the pool. Thankfully my key was active and the right one this time. I paid to hire a locker and was now inside basically a small water park though four of the five adult slides were broken and the wave pool was at capacity. Decided to call it a day. As it was in the evening they had also run out of clean towels which on entering I was told were provided. 5 minutes walk outside to the ski house where I had to get a certificate to say that I had returned their key before 8:30-9pm so I could get my deposit back tomorrow morning then walked 5 minutes to room. Deciding on food walked 5 minutes to the lobby and had the buffet dinner. Was a Malaysian theme complete with dancers that came out a little later. May have been a translation thing but I'd sat in an area where the performances couldn't be seen so moved tables to that area after they came out. Either the food was great or I was super hungry.
Either way I didn't think I was staying at a Hyatt and I wouldn't be caught in this place again.
I was staying in the nearby city for a few days though wanted to see what the difference is in staying somewhere three times the price. Was absolutely not worth the price nor my time.
I'd recommend this place only to families staying for minimum one week as it takes a solid day to get yourself setup. Advanced Mandarin is required.
Very disappointing for a Hyatt.
