Stayed here for few days. The very strategic & near to the seaport for island Hopping. It is also walking distance to street food & local food. Excellent location. The room was excellent & nice. Fits my group.
I love the breakfast buffet. So lavish & lots of choices.

Tips: Should try the Oxtail signature dish.

This hotel is only Hyatt in name. We arrived after a long connecting flight from Sydney at 11am. The first thing that stood out was the hotel was connected to a busy shopping mall. I was uncomfortable with our luggage being kept unsecured in the hotel foyer as we waited for our room.
The front office staff said that the hotel was busy and that the room would be available at 2pm. We sat at the lobby and had lunch. I noticed that a group of Chinese tourists were checking in and allocated their rooms straight away. I walked up the reception staff and asked why I was not allowed to check in, she appeared surprised and immediately gave me a room. I was amazed and baffled why we had to wait for an hour when there was a room already available.
The room had a great view of the islands. But unfortunately the previous guests have been smoking in the room and the stale cigarette stench was strong. This was already proving that this hotel was only Hyatt in name.
The bath towels were old and stained.
The TV reception was blur and with limited channels.
The Internet service was poor.
Security - as the hotel was next to the busy mall, we were uncomfortable with leaving our valuables and luggage unlocked.
The biggest annoyance was the large number of Chinese tourist at the hotel with their appalling behavior of spitting and shouting loudly even at the breakfast venue.
Tip - If your planning a trip to see the Orangutans at Sandakan - get a direct flight there from KL. This town has nothing touristy of value as even the Islands have been seriously damaged by the thousands of Chinese tourists abusing the eco system.

Great visit to Kota Kinabulu to climb the mountain. Enjoyed the stay in the Hyatt. The staff were wonderful and efficient. Definitely would stay again if we make another visit. Would have liked to see more fresh seafood at the evening buffet.

Our stay at the Hyatt Kinabalu was because we had booked to climb Mt. Kinabalu. We had a good rest before and after our successful climb. Room, beddings and bathroom were clean. Conveniently located in town center, local market and waterfront.

Excellent service, staff was very helpful and good. Room was lovely and decent pool. Would recommend to anyone. It was at the end of the holidays so we needed to be relaxed and end on a high which they did for us.
