Our room was quite lovely with old world charm. We had a fireplace in the room (although it no longer worked), a large desk placed just below the window looking out to the sea, an updated bathroom and a working internet and TV. The hotel itself was beautifully situated right on the bay, with grassy areas and a patio for sitting and relaxing looking at the sea. There was a tiny elevator that we found which allowed us to take our luggage to the room more easily than having to carry it up the stairs. Getting luggage up into the hotel was a little bit of a problem as parking was either across the street or next to the building, but both were up or down a slight hill. We ate breakfast there one morning and it was not enjoyable. We were in a huge room with only 4 other people, and the service was very slow. We were anxious to get on our way. Dinner the night before was in the bar/eating area and again, the service was very poor. They did not have enough waitresses to handle the crowd of people. The food itself, when it finally arrived, was okay. I gave the hotel 4 stars for its location and the room, and the staff at the front desk who were very nice and helpful.

I have the pleasure of staying here for the fall changing of colours. Hotel has excellent views (stayed on river view side) and excellent beds to sleep in - super comfortable.
I enjoyed the atmosphere of 'olde' world charm and make sure you take time to read its history on the plaque out front.

We stayed in a room overlooking the sea with a queen bed, a sofa, coffee table and armchair. It was as comfortable as being back at home but with different decor. The room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed. More importantly, it was cool, dark and quiet as we were able to open the windows behind the blackout drapes overnight. I had the best sleep here that I’ve had in weeks and was even able to sleep late because there was no light in the room and no noise from the corridor outside. We were originally booked for a single night but stayed another just because we liked it so much. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food and drinks in the bar reasonable quality and price. Highly recommended.

Hotel was packed the night we stayed, parking was a nightmare. Difficult to get luggage in and out of property because many of the room are located up and down several levels of stairs.....why the ranking of 4? Because despite all the deficiencies, this hotel has the best customer service staff I have seen (outside a luxury hotel). Internet didn't work, called front desk and within 3 minutes (no exaggeration) someone was at our door. TV didn't work, within 3 minutes someone was at our door! Restaurant was packed....the same guy who fixed our internet came over and took our order to expedite service!! Food was good and abundant. The view of the bay was lovely, 20 egrets just wading around looking for food. Convenient to the Ferry. Oh, one other thing, this hotel was listed as having a complimentary breakfast....they don't. Discontinued in January 2017.

The hotel was beautiful. It is tastefully decorated. There is a patio to look out onto the water. The rooms were spacious and clean. The restaurant was one of the worst I have ever been to. It took 2 hours to get food. When it did come it was a huge disappointment. I recommend the hotel as long as you can drive somewhere else to eat.
