Great for the beach!

Had a lovely few days at this hotel last week and would definitely recommend it despite what some of the previous reviewers say.. for one thing, it is not 'at the top of a very steep hill' but right at the bottom, about 2 mins walk from the beautiful clean sandy beach which is rated as one of the best on the island! It is ideal for those who prefer to have a quick dip in the sea then pop back to the hotel to shower and change but there are also free communal umbrellas and mats provided at reception if you prefer to lie on the beach all day. The hotel is non smoking throughout and is generally very quiet and peaceful. We were very lucky and grateful to be upgraded to a beach view room (201) on our arrival although I imagine that any of the rooms views would have been nice as there is a lake and trees sprawled across the cliff face opposite. We found the room itself to be more than adequate for our needs - It had a great balcony, TV (radio), black-out curtains, air conditioning and fresh towels and linen everyday. Our inclusive breakfast was also absolutely fine with loads of choice - Croissants, cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurts, bacon and eggs, fruit juice etc. and a great coffee machine.. no boiling water or fresh milk to make that perfect cup of builders tea that I usually like first thing in the morning but we all know that nowhere in Europe does tea like the British! Overall we really can't complain. We didn't use the restaurant or the poolside bar but all the staff we did encounter were very nice. Just be warned that if you want to venture into town in the evenings to visit the other hotels, bars and restaurants as we did then be prepared to climb to the top of a very steep hill!
wont stay again

First of all there are 21 steps up to the hotel, which is not good when you are carrying suitcases, lady at desk friendly and helpful, rooms are very basic, no tea and coffee or a kettle in the rooms or a fridge, had to kick up a fuss to get an extra pillow, beds are really hard.no where to get a drink or food in the hotel after 10am until after 6pm at night, but the restaurant is only open until 9pm, you are better off going into the main part of town where there are plenty of bars and restaurants, we were a bit annoyed as we were not advised by travel company that hotel was no smoking throughout, even though there is a lovely balcony to sit on later in the evening.as people have said hotel is at the top of a very steep hill, you can get a taxi but it is 7 euro's they did have a little train that goes round the town and they charged 2euro's to the top of the hill.

Had a great stay , at this budget 3 star hotel , great breakfasts , staff all happy and always assit you if you require any help.rooms kept very clean and tidy .
Only two mins walk to the beach .
I throughly reccommend the hotel to
None smokers , as the staff implament a strict none smoking policy . The hotel has a great swimming pool on the roof terace , but as unheated it can be cool on colder days , they have set times for access to bar and restuarante , but other food and bar busineses are in walking distance so did not cause us any problems. All in all a good place to stay for a quiet relaxing holiday
Does what it says on the tin..

A somewhat pleasant stay despite the noise from reception (we had the unfortunate room of 113 right behind). On our first night we actually had to ask the guy on reception to turn the music down which was outrageous considering it was rather late.. Both the walls and door in the room appeared to be made of paper.
Aside from that and the weather not being that great, the fact the room had no fridge or tea making facilities, which we already knew, was a shame all the same. Breakfast was also rather sloppy and not ideal for people who don't eat meat.
The location however was excellent and the overall room and hotel was very clean but extremely basic and in much need of rejuvenation. The beach was also lovely and well maintained although expensive with sun beds and umbrella at €17 a day.
As for the local bars and restausrants they were 'ok' (up the steep steps) with most having more a cheap and cheerful feel opposed to nicer fine dinning experiences. Which there were only one or two if you looked hard enough.
Overall lovely break but don't think we would stay here again.

Still here at the hotel very basic we came on a budget holiday so didnt expect much more the rooms are clean but very basic and dated the cleaners are excellent maid service every day and clean towels im afraid to say we are smokers and this is a no smoking hotel this was not stated on the website when booking beautiful terrace that needs some updating such a shame because it has wonderful views but did not use this as ther is nowhere to get a drink until after 4!i did try and get a glass of cold water from a vending machine in the restaurant but was told no and had a finger waved at me like i was a child and i had done something wrong there are no fridges in the rooms so difficult to get a cold drink in the day time apart from that the hotel can only be used as base really has no atmosphere at all the town cala porter is lovely nice restaurants.and bars but be warned a speep hill or a lot of steps to climb a lovely beach in view of the hotel nice holiday but will not be using this hotel again
