MUSTY SMELLY OLD APARTMENTS
Butterflygirl54 on 10/11/2017 12:03
We stayed here for 5 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment and I just wanted to leave.
This apartment is located in a huge complex of apartments. From the outside they don't look too bad and some of them look better and newer than others. Inside they are very old and have a horrible musty smell which was hard to get rid of. The sliding doors and windows do not have fly screens so its not safe to have some of them open at night. Even thought the verandah was a decent size I would say it could be somewhat a security problem because if your neighbours wanted to they can jump over the verandah into your apartment anytime of day, its easy to do. There is no security between apartments only some have a solid high wall or window blocking access. Our apartment was easy for anyone to access if they wanted to from neighbouring verandah. There was no A/C in this apartment which made it quite uncomfortable.
Check in was ok but not overly friendly welcome by the owner/employee. The decor of the 2br apartment was old and smelly. The beds were not very comfortable. Towels were supplied but housekeeping is very limited. Towels changed once and we had to buy our own toilet paper as housekeeping was very slack.
The washing machine was in good order. I would not stay here again as I was quite disappointed as the pictures on the website make it look better than what it really is, trust me.
At night it can be a bit noisy with neighbours talking loud or music etc. There is a nice big pool which you can access with a room key card. There is NO wifi in the apartment which was a pain. You could only access wifi at Enjoy cafe at the swimming pool. The cafe has good food. I thought it was a ripoff to charge people for using the sun beds and also beware you may get in trouble for moving the sunbeds on the grass (crazy but true).
There are many apartment blocks in this complex and unfortunately they are very run down. They are not looked after at all, some of them are in serious need of renovating from the outside and of course inside definitely needs updating. It seems like they haven't had any renovations for years.
The beach below is lovely and views are amazing. The walk into town is all down hill. Coming back is a bit of walk but not too bad. Lagos has some amazing beaches. The town is pleasant and full of nice restaurants.
Sorry to say but Iberlagos Apartments will not be my choice again if I was to return to Lagos. I don't recommend this property.
GREAT BUT NOT QUITE ...

From views to space and location, I have nothing to say. The views are spectacular and breathtaking. We rented a 4 bedroom apartment with 2 full baths and those were acceptable. Its location is great . The lanai/balcony is large, open and overlooking the fantastic ocean views and the common pool for the apartments' tenants. In other words, our apartment was right front and center of this fantastic ocean views. A few advise to the owners though, they should probably leave instructions how to use the dishwasher because we certainly don't want to leave dirty kitchen wares.... maybe an outdoor grill for the renters to utilize (an electric indoor grill is not the same)......they cleaned the apartment when we left for Spain and we came back 2 days later and the door was left unlocked ! ..... maybe provide extra towels for the beach ?......and last but not the least, they need to update their furnitures (outdated, faded). It's a beautiful place with spectacular views yet old furnitures. The staff and housekeepers were really easy to reach and easy to talk to.
Great location

Perfect for access to Dona Ana beach and close to the town. On site pool for adults and children. The complex could use some sprucing up; painting and trash pick up. Like what we have seen in Portugal, graffiti is an issue on walls, etc.
Why the haters

We are halfway through our stay in the iberlagos apartments and wasn't looking forward to the stay after reading the reviews however we have been pleasantly surprised.
The pool in the centre of the apartments is privately owned therefore the owner charges for the sunbeds. People complain that they have to pay for the sunbeds however how does the owner of the pool make money to maintain it, by charging for the sunbeds.
The then unfriendly staff that have been spoken about in previous reviews during our stay here we have met Jorje and Denise who work in the pool cafe bar. We have found them to be friendly, very helpful and hard working and speak really good English which is a plus when our Portuguese is nil.
Location amazing, shop always open and very friendly and even sell washing machine capsules as singles anything you want he will try and get for you.
The apartment privately owned and basic but clean and we have been here 6 days and the cleaners have been twice already bringing clean towels and toilet rolls.
The beach in front of the apartments is beautiful and there are great view yes it is a hike back up and a 50+ asmatic and did it no problem with a couple of stops.
The walk into the main town is 15 mins away downhill nice walk, we have so far got a taxi back but not a too bad walk back up.
Great location, tired property, very tired complex Apt 337 Iberlagos through Owners Direct

The property itself is a comfortable, if a little tired large studio with mezzanine floor on a slightly dilapidated Iberlagos complex. Great location and fairly cheap, but you get what you pay for. Balanced review below and sorry no pics inside the apartment. It was too dark!
The Good:
- Location!!! Very close to the Praia de Ana beach and 1 min from a dive into the pool it overlooks. Also a short walk into Lagos old town. Down a steep hill in 10 mins, back up in 20!! Easy Access to motorway J1 and nearby Lidl for shopping
- Cosmopolitan feel. Many Portuguese visitors and residents
- Apartment has everything you need. Kitchenware, good seating area inside and outside, large bathroom.
- Great pool and whilst sunbeds are charged, using a towel on the grass is free
- Keycards to get into pool area keep it for residents only.
The Average:
- Room is stuffy even with air conditioning unit, as its too weak to cool the whole space. Extra two fans needed at night, not the end of the world, but not everyone likes the rumble!
- The Mezzanine floor offers height challenges for those over 6ft below it and 5ft above. Bed above is a 1.5 double - so inbetween a double and a single. The beds below are singles; a pull out bed under the couch and another person on the couch
- Tired and slightly grimy bathroom.
- Lots of spare parts for showers poking out everywhere - not great
- Tired 80s/90s dark furniture and very dark living space as only one window to the front
- Hard to find a parking space during the stay - as a free for all for the beach below. Got a warning when we had to park on the kerb.
- Steep and numerous stairs from the top to the flat and then to the pool area.
- Fairly steep and unlit path down to the beach.
- Beach is pretty but crowded. Luz a short drive away is arguably a better option
- The flat is under a rooftop terrace with loose paving stones which wobble and thud through the roof
The Bad
-Not suitable for those with disabilities or in a wheelchair as too many stairs and pool has turnstile
- The look and feel of the Iberlagos complex. It's badly in need of rejuvenating. The bar area is never more than a quarter full and the other units by the pool, which maybe once housed shops, lie dusty and dormant.
- Half finished repairs litter the complex - notably near to 337, with dead plants in dry flowerbeds, rusting gates and overflowing bins
- Hidden costs: If you use paypal to pay - their charges will be passed on to you by debiting your deposit. This cost us an additional 25 euros.
