What People are saying

Nice Hotel but dated, Superb Beach

Brianelsy on 21/11/2017 00:12

This was our 2nd time to bavaro and decided on this hotel as we could use the other half of the hotels facilities which then gave us more a la carte restaurants to use.also it is close to the airport.
We had the junior suite which is slightly better than the other rooms but a bit further away from the beach but no smell of damp, ice machine in lobby and clean but slightly dated rooms.maids did a brill job and mini bar always filled,
Breakfast was always great with plenty of everything.
Lunch we usually had something at the buffet next to the beach which was also spot on.
Evening buffet wasn't as good as always the same sort of things.i stood in a cue waiting on a fresh steak getting cooked and when I tried to eat it,it was like chewing an old sandal!
Mexican a la carte was great!
Seafood surf and turf was excellent.
American diner was great.
Steakhouse ok as was the oriental.
The beach is amazing. Walk for miles, clear water and white soft sand.we spent most of our time there as the breeze is nice.
Waiter service of drinks as well.
Entertainment is a hit or miss.
Went to the flintstones buggy tour which was fab.booked direct an they pick you up at reception.$100 all in for 2of us.
Great hotel for the price👍🏼

Excellent hotel in Punta Cana

We really enjoyed our stay at the Iberostar Punta Cana. We arrived early and were able to do a pre-check-in. Our Concierge, Joely took us to the buffet to get some lunch since our room was not ready. We ate and walked down to the pool and beach area where they were having a foam party. On our way one of the groundskeepers cut us up a coconut and let us drink the water inside. Thats when we knew how well we were going to be treated at this resort. The food was really great and our servers at the Hispaniola buffet, Yenice and Mignolia were awesome. every morning and evening they met us with a smile and gave us each a hug. they always had a special table waiting for us and went out of their way to make us feel special. We were sad when we had to leave them. Joely was always there for us when we needed something and was very professional and explained many things to us and it was great always having someone we could go to if we needed something taken care of. The guys and ladies of the entertainment crew were also a lot of fun. They entertained us at the pool and taught us dance lessons in the evening. they were very gracious and always we had a lot of fun with each of them. We would definitely come back to this resort in the future. it became a home away from home for us and we loved our time there.

My First Time In DR

KidDynamiteLA on 18/11/2017 11:14

So this was my first time in DR Punta Cana and this place was cool. My room had a old mildew kind of smell & my ceiling was leaking water and fixtures were old. I had to have the front desk come unstop my bathroom sink and bring air freshener. My friends room was better 1 friend had better fixtures and ocean view kinda (looked down by the restaurant area) the other was in a little buildings by the disco tech and he had a bidet and bathrobes in his closet. The staff was nice some of them. Others seem hustler friendly lol. A lot of European people here. The lounge chairs are old and they were constantly painting areas and digging and pumping water out of certain areas. The food was ok as well a lot of fried food and I only ate stuff were the bugs couldn’t land on because of the heat lamps. Would I stay here again I doubt it. It was on the beach but they need to step up their game visually. Cabo has Punta Cana beat on updates and being clean. Also u can’t have any guest come visit you and the drinks were watery.

We had a nice time

I went on this trip with my best friend. This was our second trip together and first time in Punta Cana and overall the lobby, grounds and rooms were nice. We enjoyed our stay but the food wasn't as good here as it is in Mexican resorts we've been too for comparison. Also the nightly entertainment was HORRIBLE. Literally painful to watch; we could not believe this passed as entertainment there. Also the disco was empty every. single. night.

The ocean was rough and got deep fast so you had to be careful. Pools were a lot smaller then what we were used to in Mexico as well but the long beach you could walk for a few kms was a really nice perk at this resort. We loved the market all the way at the end of the beach. We found out on our last day that there was another area of pools we could have used but no one told us so that was unfortunate. Daytime pool activities were really lame. People leave towels taking up chairs for hours and we had to just move people things a few days in because it got frustrating. We would sit by the pool and after an hour if people hasn't shown up we would move their things aside. There would be more empty seats with fresh towels then people sitting in them. Staff needs to do a better job at managing this.

Food was ok but selection wasn't great and food was pretty bland.

Good value if you get a good discount. Beware of scams!

This hotel is part of a 3 hotel complex, and can be a little confusing where they merge, such as in the restaurants. If you look at Iberostars' own website it looks a lot better than it really is. The hotel rooms and pool area are a little dated and in need of some maintenance. Having said that, if you get a good deal as we did then it represents good value for money. we paid £2200 for 2 weeks all inclusive.
The restaurants are large but well staffed and although the food is plentiful it did become repetitive after a while. There is a microwave hidden in the service area by the drinks dispensers and it was needed as much of the food was only warm at the service points. This could obviously lead to upset tummies with chicken for example. The A-La-Carte restaurants were mixed value. The oriental got my main course wrong 3 times, The Steak House did well on the first visit but gave me a burnt offering the second time, and the Rock Café was good on both occasions.
The pool areas were easily accessible but floor areas both surrounding the pool and in the pool itself needs some attention. They have worn away down to bare concrete which can be uncomfortable on the feet.
The beach area is great, sunbeds a-plenty, and lots of shade. No need for a 5.30 a.m sunbed grab with towels here! There's lots of seaweed but it is cleaned up early morning most days.
Now. A serious word of warning. The staff are not paid a lot. They rely on tips either in DR Pesos, or preferably in US$. A couple of bucks goes a long way to getting good service. However it also leads to some attempted scams. Before I go on I want to emphasise that I have formalised a complaint about the following, but have abbreviated it drastically here. Because my wife isn't very mobile I asked at reception for a room near a lift. I was offered an upgrade at $250. I offered $200 and wanted to pay with my Credit Card. They said $150 for cash as 'the machine for C/C was broken'. I declined. We still got the room. Within 2 minutes of arriving in the room, the receptionist was asking for 'a good tip'. At the welcome meeting I discovered that the room was no different to the other 2 couples who arrived with us!!! Thus the formal complaint about a possible scam!!! Finally, be aware that you need $10 each to enter the country, and $20 each to leave. The latter point is not clear on the Tui website and departure information.
Notwithstanding the above, we had a great time, lovely weather with a few thunderstorms, mostly at night, and met some lovely people.
For what we paid it was really good value.
I've heard that Trip Advisor removes or don't publish negative reviews. I hope on the basis of my complaint that they publish this wholly.
