Charming place with exceptional staff
DevonBedheadon 30/01/2017 16:58We had an 8 day stay and overall is was extremely good. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. They will go out of their way to accommodate your needs and if, like us you do not speak hardly any Brazilian Portuguese they will happily use google translate to make things easier. We did not have a car and the hotel arrange for our taxi from Sao Paulo airport and return and that worked extremely well. The beach, which is beautiful, is really a little bit too far to walk especially in the heat of summer but again, the staff were helpful and most willing to drive us to their beach area and also bring us back to the hotel later in the day, here you can get seats and sunshades in the garden area or directly on the beach, also drinks and snacks. The food at the hotel was good, we especially enjoyed dinner in the evening with a good menu to choose from, here again nothing was too much trouble and Pedro was always willing to adapt dishes to suit our requests. Thank you to Christian, Suzanna, Agatha, Louez, Pedro and all the staff for making us feel welcome and enhancing our stay at Ilha de Toque Toque.
Beautiful sight to sea and great stuff working there!
Yasmine Zon 26/12/2016 13:09We spend 4 nights in this hotel an I want to write all the good things first and then the negative ones.
Positive:
- the stuff working there is very friendly and helpfull. We realy liked all of them!
- the sight to the sea and the mountains is just great!
- the suite is huge and you feel like home.
- fresh tapioca for breakfast.
- parking and parasols are offered from the hotel at the beach.
- swimming pool is nice and the view from there.
Negative:
- the gym is very veeeery small with one old stepper and one bicycle. you can't even call it a gym.
- a lot of insects living here around, so you realy need to keep the doors and windows closed and repelent against insects. (not the hotel's falt of course, just for the reader to know)
- in the kitchen of the suite there is no towel to dry neither your hands nor the dishes. and no sponge and dish liquid so you cannot realy use the kitchen.
- the cake at breakfast was three times served on three consecetive days. i would sugest to change that and serve that either at the café da tarde or give it to the stuff to eat. 3 days is just one day too much. maybe tomorrow they will serve it again 😜
- the café da tarde is pretty simple (dry cake and coffee/tea) and after the first day we didnt go there anymore and we were not the only ones. we have been in other hotels and there is no comparation!
- we asked for unsalted butter for the brakefast on the first day but nothing happened.
- the restaurant has a good kitchen but very high prices and the portions are rather small (one simple plate of spaghetti for 57 reais! and i was still hungry after eating it. i mean spaghetti is not expensive!)
- the sea is very badly reacheble by foot and you have to use your car. it is more then 1200 m from the hotel.
Restful vacation
Oscar Aon 28/11/2016 02:22The room is large and clean. The jacuzzi and sauna on the balcony was convienent. The staff was friendly and the cook was amazing he spoke English to me and made any dish I wanted that was not on the menu. The waiter suggested I go to a near beach walking since I did not have a car. One thing i would recommend is the mosquitos were many and bite a lot. Bring your own cream or spray. Otherwise I had a restful time. Not easy to get to because I had to pay a lot to arrive there. My cost to arrive was quoted 420 or over 700 dollars from the airport from Sao Paolo. A friend charged me 320 dollars. The view and the location made up for the extra cost!
Second time was better than the first!
Thomas Son 26/11/2016 05:55My wife and I have stayed here twice and both trips were just perfect! If you are looking for a spectacular location to escape from São Paulo for the weekend, no need to look further. This hotel is set in the hillside above the praia (beach) of Toque Toque Grande. You literally have the jungle around you. Our first stay was longer, 4 days over a holiday weekend in November of 2015. Our second stay was 3 days over a long weekend in July of 2016.
The hotel is a beautiful boutique style hotel with individual little houses, only a couple of the rooms share the same structure as another room. Both of our stays had a perfect view of the ocean and the beach. Both rooms had a hot tub out on the deck off the room, which is perfect for some relaxing romantic time for a couple and they are pretty private. Our second stay, we also had a indoor dry sauna in the room and with the winter weather in July, it was awesome going from the hot tub to the sauna and vice versa. The hammocks that they have on the decks are also incredibly relaxing, while listening to the crashing waves on the beach below.
The little restaurant at the hotel does an excellent job of preparing some tasty meals for dinner and a wonderful spread for breakfast. They also have a little section of beach available on Toque Toque Grande, where they will set out chairs and an umbrella for you, plus they have cold beer that they will bring in a bucket for you and charge it back to your room. They used to actually serve food from the hotel down to the beach, which was awesome during our first trip, but the hotel stopped delivering food to the beach. However, there are local options that they will help you with if you ask. They had directed us to a local lady that cooks food from her kitchen and delivers it for cash, and it was super tasty fresh fish and squid. Don't be afraid to try.
The hotel has the feel that it's family owned and operated, and we love that fact. You get to know everyone and they are super friendly and very helpful in making sure you have a great time.
We truly loved visiting this hotel the first time and we were dying to visit it again, and we are going to go back again in the future. Perfeito!!
Gente, esse muito bom lugarzinho! Gostei demais!
idyllic setting on the coast of Brazil
sandi bon 31/05/2016 03:33We spent two days in Ilha de Toque Toque before heading to Ilhabela for a wedding. It was a tranquil idyllic setting overlooking a beautiful vista of water. We loved our balcony which afforced a view of the lovely beach framed by green foliage. The beach was sandy and quiet and very private. We enjoyed the restaurant, the food was terrific, and the two days afforded us rest and relaxation and everything we needed and wanted. Thank you.
