What People are saying

Fantastic

cloclywr12234 on 21/11/2017 10:43

I booked a very last minute surprise trip to chessington. We are merlin holders so this meant that I needed just bed and breakfast.
I booked a standard room with bunk beds.
After arriving at the hotel with two very excited boys. We quickly checked in and went to our room. The room was lovely but it had twin beds instead of the bunk beds I had asked for.
I went to speak to reception where the manager asked if everything was ok. He was very polite and extremely helpful. After explaining my situation he totally understood and went to see if we could swap rooms.
After a few minutes the man explained that he had upgraded us to the gruffalo room!! This also included fast track passes for the following day in the park.
Once entering the gruffalo room we were all amazed at how fantastic it was!! The detail that has gone into the rooms was brilliant. My boys loved every bit of it. The secret hide out. Tv in the bathroom were all great. We also had a great view of the animals.
I cannot rate this room and the service enough.
The food was great in the hotel, and fairly priced. We also took advantage of the swimming pool which my children loved. All the staff were very helpful and polite
My 2 .5 year old asks nearly every day if we are going to the gruffalo room!!!!!
Fantastic stay thank you.

Quick 2 day stay

Easy check in but we had issues with booking breakfast on the giant ipad. Friendly staff and they sorted our room swop after a few drainage issues on entrance that lead us to running out. Staff were very apologetic and moved us promptly. Comfy beds and good shower. Breakfast is as you would expect, and did it's job. Great to overlook the animals whilst eating. Overall pleasant experience so thank you.

Lovely children's adventure, but could be so much more.

We booked the Zootastic Safari package on a Saturday night through Travelzoo for £109, which we thought was good value. We upgraded to a Wanyama View room. It was lovely to wake to see zebra, wildebeest, deer and pelicans roaming around, but if you don't want to spend the extra £30 you can get the same view from communal areas. Our room was clean and spacious and our three-year-old daughter loved her animal-themed bunk bed! I advise avoiding rooms at the end of the corridor (we had 101) as there were children running up and down the corridor screaming until nearly 10pm so we struggled to get an excited little one to sleep. I liked the touches like the iguanas in reception and children's movies, but the off duty keepers club was completely chaotic and only really suitable for older children. The food in the restaurants (Zafari for dinner and Temple for breakfast) was better than expected, although some vegetables with the child's meal would have been welcome. The staff and ambiance in both were lovely and little touches like the ant farm were brilliant. Do book in advance as the booking process once you arrive is stressful (not possible at reception, wait for touch pad for 20 minutes which breaks, then queue at restaurant) and the slots remaining are limited. We missed out on a swim as all the slots were full, apparently advance booking is possible but I couldn't see how to do this on any of the many advance emails I received, which just wanted to up sell the VIP packages and Go Ape! Our day at the zoo on Sunday was fantastic. It's a really interactive zoo with lots of animals to see up close and a great little aquarium. The Wanyama area was great and deserted and we particularly enjoyed the hotel exclusive giraffe sneak peek where Connor was so enthusiastic and happy to tell us all about the giraffes. Unfortunately all the staff were not quite as keen as him and we found the young man on reception completely disinterested and the two young men at the zoo gate rude bordering on the offensive. It's such a shame when these people who are the face of the organisation can't be polite and smile occasionally! This is a lovely place, but could be so much more with better processes in place and a more positive vibe among some of the staff. We would return now we're more in the know on what to expect.

Great stay at the Safari Hotel!

We visited the Safari hotel on a "zootastic" weekend and had an absolutely wonderful time! We booked the gruffalo room as our little girl is obsessed with the story. The room did not disappoint. The view of the zebras out of our window was also amazing.

The evening entertainment was great. Our little girl loved joining in especially when daddy won the lip sync battle. We ate in the safari grill for both dinner and breakfast. Our daughter is a fussy eater but there was plenty of fruit and cereal available at the breakfast buffet which kept her happy.

All around it was a great trip. The only minor fault I can think of is the changing rooms in the splash pool. We were also travelling with our 3 month old son and could not find a baby changing room in the family changing rooms in the splash pool? They had a changing table in the disabled changing room but other than that we could not see one. Perhaps we didn't look properly but we ended up changing him on the bench in one of the changing rooms which wasn't ideal. Again this could've been our error on our part.

We've booked again to come in June when the full park is open. My daughter cannot wait!

Glamping

Sundeep S on 19/11/2017 11:29

We stayed in the lion luxury glamping tent. The tent wa big enough for 4 and had a deck so we could watch the kids play. Lots of play equipment for the kids and the staff were vet good at arranging activities. Gets cold a night so we asked for a electric heater, they also provide hot choclate coffees etc at the reception tent. Shared bathrooms but these were clean. Staff provided complimentary badges for kids and we got to use a section of the park after close which was great. Top tip is not to que for rides at the cobra as you will get to go on this as much as you like when the parks closes for non glamping guests.
