I stayed at the Intercon Almaty for five nights. The staff were very professional and helpful and had a ready smile and very willing to provide assistance. I was pleasantly greeted with a spread of pastries and nuts and a bottle of juice when I entered the room which I truly appreciated since I arrived at about 2.30 am. I was in a non-smoking floor/room with a view of the snow capped mountains. The extensive breakfast buffet spread had everything you would want during breakfast and there is an egg station which will prepare your eggs to order. Since the meetings were held in the hotel, I did go to the restaurant for lunch, which again provided an extensive selection of meats, vegetables, and desserts! Memorable dishes during lunch were the roasted lamb chops and liver and onions! Truly enjoyable meals, with very attentive wait staff who were always available to assist but never intrusive. The gym/spa at the basement level had a Turkish hammam and FInnish sauna. Definitely a unique feature of any hotel. Uber is available by accessing the FREE WIFI - FREE WIFI is provided which is great! As a rule, I do not use Hotel Foreign Exchange Counters because of the unfavorable rates - Intercon Almaty is the single exception! The rates are very good and it would probably cost you more to take a cab and get to get your Kazakh Tenge somewhere else. So I definitely recommend using the ForEx counter at the intercon. The room has consistently been clean and well kept during my stay. Complimentary water is provided and replenished everyday and fruit gel morsels are provided when the bed is turned down. Tthere is also a reliable and enjoyable Kazakh restaurant Gakku, which I will review in a separate entry, is a pleasant 7 minute walk from the hotel. The local area, judging by the high end vehicles parked on the street is fairly affluent and safe and I was never concerned for my or my colleagues safety. There is no shortage of cabs and private vehicles to drive you to your destination. Uber is available - just make sure you get wifi so you can order Uber back to the intercon. I haven't been to Almaty for almost 10 years and my return there was very pleasant one in great part because of the hotel.
I came on business and the hotel provided me with the kind of service and amenities that helped me to be productive and at the same time to have rest after long hours in transit.
The rooms are spacious and well furnished, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom well stocked and everything worked fine. This is not the newest hotel in town by any means, but it is quite well maintained and has an ambiance of some class to it.
There are several bars and restaurants on the premises and they also have their own bakery. Breakfast buffets are very good an provide a wide variety of choices for different palates and tastes.
The staff was attentive and friendly. They are eager to provide you with good service.
Very positive impressions after my recent stay there.

Whether staying for business or vacation, you will not be disappointed with the Almaty Intercontinental. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with nice decor. Service all around the hotel (front desk, breakfast, etc) is very friendly and efficient. The breakfast is outstanding. The gym and indoor pool are good. Be advised that the hotel bar and restaurants can be expensive, but you will get good service.
I have stayed here twice for business, and I highly recommend it.

A Turkish style hotel, the Intercontinental hotel in Almaty provides a good stay experience in the heart of the city. Luxury intertwined with a classical touch this hotel has some really good views of the city.
Large, clean room with a reliable wi-fi connection. The staff are cheerful and very helpful. Had a smooth check-in and check-out.
Overall it is a good hotel for business travelers.

InterContinental Hotel Almaty is a great hotel, it made in Turkish style. Service was very helpful, rooms are clean. Dining in the restaurant Bosforus was good. Can reccomend it to everyone who stays for business and leisure.
