We stay at this hotel often as it is very well located in central Melbourne with comfortable rooms and excellent staff. We love the ambiance of the old building and the greetings from the concierge as we walk through the doors, giving us a very homely welcome. We have known James S. for many years and have enjoyed his service in three IHG hotels during this time. We recommend this hotel for either business or leisure.

Each time I find myself in Melbourne I stay at this lovely hotel.
Great location, at the end of Collins Street, close to restaurants, shops and the CBD.
Hotel staff are lovely and with rooms which are just hard to fault. Understated luxury at its best

I’ve recently started staying at the intercon on a more regular basis because it is so conveniently located to our Melb office and I love the feel of the entrance / foyer area. I am reconsidering this choice of hotel because I find the rooms tired and always with small maintenance issues - particularly on the “automatic” blind. I’ve had a couple of rooms with very high street noise including industrial bins being emptied at 4 am on my most recent stay. More frustrating is that every time I stay I get asked if this is my first time at the hotel despite my ihg membership being on my registration and it seems that the rooms I end up with are getting further away from everything and more poorly maintained. Not what I expect of a premium hotel offering and as others are suggesting there are probably better options.

I stayed in a Deluxe King Room on the Rialto side but a view of the atrium with a balcony would have added more value to the stay and made it perfect (so would recommended asking for this when you book). The hotel is visually stunning, a real treat and the facilities/amenities are second to none. It has a very genuine luxury feel and the staff are immaculately dressed, attentive and diligent. So close to all major attractions yet also a quiet peaceful location. Really enjoyed my stay.

Located in the lower end of COLLINS st. It is the old wool stores converted. Good service with doormen to meet and assist. But there is no views from the rooms. The decore is starting to age and the hallway carpet needs replacing. Staff were friendly and helpful. Meals very dear with breakfasts $42 per person. Beds and rooms were comfortable and spacious enough.
