What People are saying
Excellent stay and service

My wife and I (with our 5 little son) stayed here for 2 nights. We checked in Friday and checked out on Sunday.
I remember calling the hotel on Thursday to request an early check-in and understandably I was told that we would not know if we could check-in early until the next day as it depends on when people vacate the rooms. We didn't get a call to say that that the room was available but nor did we get a call to say the room was not available earlier.
As we checked in on Friday afternoon, we were greeted well by the concierge and our luggage was unloaded quickly and our car swiftly taken by the valet. The check in experience itself was excellent and very friendly by the front office staff.
The room itself was fantastic, it looked very new, very clean and a really good size (probably a bit bigger than most in "King Rooms" in Sydney") so we were very pleased with the room itself. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were a little soft for me and I completely forgot to ask if they had a pillow menu.
Room service was excellent, yes its pricey and not a lot of options but it was better than most. I had the club sandwich and also the Angus beef burger on separate occasions. They did also have a few gluten free options for my wife which was very pleasing. Overall the quality of the in room dining was very pleasant and as good you would expect it to be.
The location is superb, as the neighbourhood is vibrant. You wouldn't really notice that you are that close to the city with beaches and parks all within 5 or so mins walk and a good selection of eateries a stone's throw away from the hotel. There is lots and lots of shopping you could do (not that we did any as it very high end shopping) but still even window shopping was a entertaining! The location is very family friendly too.
The one bit of disappointment was the room view. As I had reserved a King Room with Bay view I was expecting to have a good view of the bay but I didn't feel this was the case. We were on the 3rd floor and would have liked to have been on a higher floor -
see photos for the room view we had.The balcony is very handy for breakfast and just general sitting around and watching some of the world go by.
Do watch out for the valet parking as it's the only option to park at the hotel, I don't know where else one could have parked if not with the hotel. Nothing bad here, just good to know, i certainly enjoyed not having to worry about parking, and they happily collect anything from the car whenever you need something, and of course they bring the car to the hotel entry if you need to leave the premise for any reason.
Overall it was an excellent excellent stay and I was happy with the service. I have a policy to only give a 5 stars if the entire experience was perfect and had nothing that i "disliked" to say. On this occasion though, the room view was what nudged it closer to 4 than 5. If there was a 4.5 rating that's what I would give them!
5 Star Experience

I had the luxury of staying at the Intercontinental Hotel in Double Bay under the Bayside Bliss package. What a top tier experience! From the minute we stepped into the hotel we were treated so well and the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience!
The room is luxuriously furnished and well situated in Double Bay. Close to the best shops and cafes and the water. The balcony view is absolutely beautiful. Breakfast on the balcony is a huge bonus. The rooftop pool, while shallow, is a good spot to chill out and have a drink and cool off.
A sanctuary

Just a few metres away from busy South Head Road in Double Bay, this is the place to go to get away from it all but be right in the centre of ‘the Village’. Lots of great restaurants, coffee shops, shops, pubs nearby and not far from any means of transport you care for.
First rate hotel, very comfortable, clean, spacious rooms as you would expect, with all the usual 5 star inclusions.
Well worth the experience is to order a pre-dinner cocktail at the bar.
The best asset are the staff at this hotel.
Quick Business trip

Stayed for one night in February on business. I have stayed at this hotel over the years and during many of its different periods and I have to say that it is again starting to look a little tired. The reception and the main lobby and bar area is very very nice indeed but I feel the rooms can let them down. The room we stayed in was a standard room I believe that some of the furniture old and needed to be replaced.
The chaise lounge had a few stains on it that I think is on unacceptable in a five star establishment. We did have a small balcony which was pleasant. But the minibar and accessories to that room I think we’re quite sparse.
Overall it is a nice hotel but I just think it is looking a little bit tired in some areas. Location is brilliant it’s right next to double Bay wharf and many of the shops and eateries in the area so I cannot fault that at all.
Five star hotel 4 Star service.

Recently stayed at this hotel. The rooms were great as were the facilities. However although the staff were pleasant and reasonably efficient the hotel didn’t go the extra mile to distinguish it from a very good 4 Star hotel.
Just little things like when no cups left after the room had been serviced and notified prior to us leaving the room for the evening, even after having arranged turn down service I had to call down to reception which was then quickly remedied.
Also on Melbourne Cup day the pool bar area had been hired out for a party but the pool area was still opened to residents. It made an area that we hope would of been serene noisy and party attendees coming by the pool for their photos. But seeing the amount of food and drink consumed I can see why the hotel had done this. A great revenue stream but again is that 5 Star service?
The hotel rooms are lovely as are the public areas. Location wise it was ideal close to bars, cafes and shops also easy to get into the city either by bus or even better the ferry dropping you at circular quay for only 5.88 Aus$. Would defiantly come back again and already recommended it to friends.
