Great overnight accommodation
Lee-anne Gon 11/05/2017 11:29The resort is very quaint and we stayed in a little apartment which had a nice comfortable bed in a loft with a bathroom, basic kitchen and lounge area with a table and 4 chairs and a single bed. There is an additional single bed in the loft main room. The bathroom was small, but adequate, however the shower tends to flood the entire bathroom.
There is a lovely patio area outside.
The road is a bit hairy to negotiate and very tight.
The staff are very friendly.
The location is a bit far from the Port of La Spezia, but an easy drive none the less.
Altogether a nice enjoyable stay
Great location, not so comfortable inside
RubenGanzon 27/04/2017 07:57...bathroom specifically.
Quite not possible to use shower, no plugs.
If you stay just to rest for nights and do not have to use kitchen then it's good.
Polite staff. The pool was out of order but it is normal in april.
Avoid
dundacilon 28/12/2016 11:27It would be 1 star if not for the staff friendness.
I was here for dinner, arranged for 20:15 (times are relevant). The restaurant offers 4 set menus, all of them have focaccia with different companion food:
1. A cured meats and cheeses tagliere, and a veggie souffle
2. A porcini pasta dish followed by a porcini tagliata
3. A wild boar pasta dish followed by wild boar and polenta
4. A mixed grilled meats meal
Orders were taken at 20:30. Some focaccia appeared within minutes. I opted for the porcini set meal.
Around 20:50 people who took meal 1 were served. But people who took meals 2 and 3 had to wait until 21:30 (!!!) to get their pasta. And the main courses of meals 2 and 3 were served around 22:10. Times were clearly not acceptable. But, at least for meal 2, the food itself was NOT acceptable as well, completely different from what normally meant to be (and of course, what was served was much cheaper than what expected). To be explicit:
The porcini pasta was served with a sauce mainly maid of smoked ham, with only tiny bits of porcini: the porcini flavour utterly lost, given the huge amount of smoked ham
The main course, advertised as a tagliata chianina with porcini, is meant to be a slab of meat at least 5 cm thick, done on charcoal, sliced in 1 cm thick slices, covered in fresh raw porcini cut in a julienne fashion: instead I got a slab of meat barely 3 cm thick unevenly cooked (and NOT on charcoal), cut in thick slabs, deadly cold (!!!), covered by slices of Parmesan cheese, and with a tablespoon of porcini sauce on a side: totally unacceptable, it is almost cheating the customer.
Recommendable! Great value for money
Thomas Hon 20/07/2016 19:18My family and I went there during July and were so lucky to get one of the haciendas closest to the entrance. The place is located at the top of mountain so be sure to wish for one of the first apartments, otherwise you are set to walk a lot up and down to get to the pool and restaurant.
The haciendas is nothing to brag about. A little messy and worned out, but it provides you with all the necessary stuff. The only negative comment I have is about the AC. We only had one AC located in the bottom floor, which means that those sleeping upstairs had to struggle with the heat.
Besides the worned out haciendas the place is great. The pool is large and the restaurant wonderful. The menu card is rather simple but the dishes are lovely (I recommend Pici with cheese). We stayed there during the weekend and had the pleasure to experience an Italian birthday. It really fired up the place and there was a lot of interesting stuff going on.
Great place considering the low price.
VERY good value for money!
Synskion 04/07/2016 23:13This place is absolutely not luxury at all. You can consider it a better way of a tent!! Having said that I find it very unfair the way people critizize it.
It is extremely cheep and you get clean towels/linen, aircondition and hot water. Yes, it is old, small and not very well kept. But you have all you need in very charming surroundings. Yes, there is a lot of stairs and the roads to the houses are steep and bumpy - the way I see it, it just makes it more charming.
The pool area is fine - the pool is big and there is even one for the small kids also - and free wifi in the pool area too.
I liked the place and didn't expect much more for the price I paid!
