Another pit stop

This was another case of arriving really late and leaving really early. I paid peanuts for the room and I guess it fitted my purpose. I had a clean bed and a decent bathroom. I just needed a shower and somewhere to kip for a few hours. The staff were friendly and really, really kind. I can't say I got any more or less than what I paid for. If youre meeting a Yangtse river cruise and you arrive early in Chongqing then I'd suggest you pay more and stay somewhere a bit nicer.
A tough location if you don't speak Chinese or have a lot of luggage

This is an 3-star hotel that's clean and has good service. Our room smelled smoky, but unfortunately, that's the state of things in China. This is a good hotel for business travelers with only carry-on luggage.
Here are our reservations about this hotel:
1) Location - it's really hard to find. Even speaking in Mandarin and having the address did not necessarily help. They are in an obscure location and the sign over their door was small, which did not help. It's not located near any other hotels, so cab drivers are totally thrown off by this address. Literally, the hotel is squeeze in between car dealerships. Tip: if you speak Chinese, tell them it's right by the car dealerships, not far from the Da4 Ping2 station. Once you are at the car dealerships, drive slowly so you don't miss the entrance. If you miss it, you will need to drive for a while before you can turn around, as there is a huge median barrier between you and the opposite direction of traffic.
2) Hard and dangerous to catch cabs -- the reason is that they don't have a real driveway for cabs to stop at. So cabs have to stop dangerously ON THE ROAD to drop off and pick-up. So there's no taxi line to pick up taxi's and you have to flag them to stop in the middle of traffic. If you have a lot of luggage or a child, this is VERY dangerous. Plus it's not really an area to pick up passengers, so at times it was difficult to find taxi's. Sometimes it's 15 - 20 min. wait, other times it's a 5ish min wait.
The plus of this place is really nice staff who really try their best by you.
Wonderful escape from the city

I love this chain of hotels in general and this hotel was no exception! I took bus 875 all the way from the bus station and got off after the Porsche sign on the left side of the street. THe hotel entrance is right next to a big car selling company. The room was large, clean, tv, internet in all the rooms and all for 149 yuan! The hostel I was in cost 125. It is a bit away from the center but easy to take the 1 yuan bus back and forth. The restaurant didn't have western breakfasts only a chinese buffet but I asked them to fry me up 3 eggs and that was OK!
I can't praise this hotel chain enough. Good standard clean rooms with hi speed internet is a wonderful thing in china. And NO sewer smell like many hotels! Ha.
Jinjiang Inn - Chongqing Yuzhong

When I first looked out my window at the Jinjiang Inn, my first impression was, was a great view. After, I realized I had a huge room, a huge bed, satellite TV, secure internet and more. In my mind, I thanked TravelChinaGuide over and over. There were many good eats nearby ( also in the restaurant ) but the real thing was the friendliness of the staff and their desire to help me under any circumstance. To overcome our language difference, they had me write down my needs and they would quickly translate it and help me promptly. It was this type of service from all the Jinjiang Inns I stayed in in other cities that kept me searching out the hotel chain. They never failed to deliver everything I wanted. Oh..and while the name of the park slips my mind...there is a fabulous tower with a great view of Chongqing..lit up at night, it is a very beautiful city.
