Stayed here for 3 night on business trip. It was the only hotel I would find to book the dates I wanted.
As expected the hotel was budget hotel but nice and clean considering the price.
check in was smooth. the staff could hardly speak any English but were cheerful and helpful.
Would not mind staying here again.
Cheap and clean

Room was a bit spartan but had a comfortable bed and everything was clean. The internet worked ok. There is a breakfast buffet for ¥18 and it's ok. If you want laundry done you have to take it to the front desk. English is minimal. There is a nice park across the street and several restaurants within a 15 minute walk. The lobby is really small. The elevator requires you to use your room key to access your floor which is a nice security feature.
Hotel that is value for money

The room is clean and basic. The rate of 99rmb for basic single bed room does not include breakfast. Breakfast is chargable at 18rmb. The main lobby is also minimalist with a simple sofa set. There is a PC with internet connection. To access your floor you need to use the room card to tap on lift button panel so security to the hotel is good. Surrounding the hotel are mostly residential apartments. There is a small park fronting the hotel with locals doing their morning exercise. Next to the hotel there is a market and road side stalls selling vegetable and friuts. Taxi is readily available. Overall this hotel is really value for money.
Very good value indeed

Upon entering the hotel lobby, which looks spartan but clean and orderly, we smelled cigarette smoke as a couple of hotel guests were smoking there. In China, smoking is still allowed in many public places today, unfortunately. Check-in was done fairly quickly, we being the only ones doing so at that time.
Our rooms were thankfully free from any lingering smell of cigarette smoke. It was brightly lit, had a night lamp and the attached bathroom, too, was well lighted. The exhaust fan hummed fairly quietly, which was great. Bath and face towels looked new and were well washed. There are amenities such as tooth brushes and toothpaste, paper cups, shampoo and soap provided. Bed linens were soft and I had four pillows on the king-sized bed, which is excellent for a budget class hotel. What was impressive was the provision of 12 power sockets! I cannot remember a 5-star hotel that I had stayed in before having 12 power sockets. And there was a 32-inch LCD TV in the room with cable TV - there were something like 70 channels, all of them Chinese ones, unfortunately. But there is CCTV News, which is in English. Strangely, there was no local Teochew channel programmed into the box. There is no carpetting but the floor was laminated, which makes cleaning easy and good for those with sensitive noses to carpet dust. Disposable room slippers were provided.
Internet access (wired) is free and stable! A major plus.
There are both hot and cold air-conditioning, a boiler for hot water and two packets of green tea. No room fridge and room safe though. But at this price, one really cannot complain. Windows are single-glazed so do expect to hear some traffic noise and the Chinese love to toot their motorcar horns.
On the 4th floor is a restaurant, which serves a simple Chinese buffet breakfast for RMB15 (S$3), which includes several types of dumplings and steamed buns, hard boiled eggs, fried noodles, porridge, fried sausages, vegetables, coffee and tea, yoghurt drink, and fruits. Good value if you are not a fussy eater.
The hotel is a five-minute walk to Zhongshan Lu, where one can ride on public buses at RMB1 to the shopping and old commercial areas. You could walk if the weather is fine.
This is my third stay in a Jinjiang hotel in China and their standard has been rather consistent. At less than US$30 a night, this hotels offer very good value.
Good Hotel but location a bit out of the way

I have trouble finding the Chinese name for this hotel from the reviews here in order to tell the taxi driver, it is called 锦江之星. It seems to be a large budget hotel in China. I was given the 13th floor with a good view of the city. The room is clean and new, not carpeted but the parquet type so it has a homely feeling. The plasma TV and the set top box is a rarity in China still esp for budget hotels. Breakfast not included but wired internet is. The location of the hotel is not near the shopping area but rather it is in a residential neighborhood. It is less than 10min walk to the shopping belt. Overall I have a very nice stay!
