Wonderful hotel and staff
Richard Lon 14/11/2017 18:19I so thoroughly enjoyed my holiday in Sorrento and a great part of that enjoyment was due to my stay at The Johanna Park. I was a resident for 7 nights as a Jet2 Holidays' guest on half board. The Hotel had been advised in advance of the fact that I am a Coeliac - unable to tolerate gluten and wheat in my diet.
My allocated room was a delight. It was the middle room in a three room chalet annexe block slightly downhill in the grounds of the Hotel and in the midst of the Hotel's olive, lemon and orange grove ... the balcony of my room had branches of the lemon trees slightly brushing over it! A delight! The room had a delightful mediterranean decor and the bathroom was complete with bidet and shower. Regrettably, the room - being out of the Hotel - did not have Wi-Fi availability but this was available all around the main Hotel and the Pool area and for me, this was therefore acceptable. For me, the only negative of the room was lack of kettle, tea and coffee facilities - provision of this facility in the rooms would be a major upgrade for the guests!
Breakfast, served in the main restaurant which had an attached outdoor, under awning, veranda comprised an excellent hot and cold buffet with plenty of all round choices and, for me, there was an additional/alternative gluten free area containing the cereal, bread, biscuits and cakes for me - first class.
The Hotel, I'm surmising from what I saw and experienced, derives a large proportion of its income from Tour Groups and their breakfasts and dinners were served in that restaurant from the same buffet for breakfast and from a similar buffet for dinner. Non tour guests, such as I, principally ate under the awning on the adjacent patio/veranda - a beautiful setting.
Dinners for the non tour guests were of course a choice from a menu ... it was the same menu all week but with plenty of choice. Giuseppe, the Maitre D' was superb in his management of the restaurant, his hard work and his friendly manner with guests. His number 2, Nello (also one of the Hotels Shuttle Minibus drivers) was also very competent, friendly and hard working. For me, each evening Giuseppe had the knowledge and ability to recommend menu items (and, indeed, off the menu items) which were suitable for my dietary requirements ... all of which that I chose were excellently prepared and presented and afforded me a wonderful opportunity to sample and well enjoy Italian and Sorrento dishes-a-plenty. The Lemon Risotto particularly was an absolute delight (enjoyed twice in my seven days because of its quality) especially when enjoyed with a glass or two (!) of Lacrima Christi Bianco - from the vineyards of the slopes of Mount Vesuvius.
The outdoor pool was pristine in its cleanliness and, from what I saw, its size was ideal for the number of people using it. Sunbeds were available all round the pool and towels available upon request from the Hotel Reception.
The Hotel is atop a very long steep hill but there is a regular shuttle bus run by the hotel that takes guests down and returns them in accordance with a given timetable. Alternatively the hill, for the fit and healthy, can be walked - ask at Reception for the short cut route. If you're not walking, taxis in Sorrento aren't particularly cheap, so try not to miss the last connection!
I sincerely hope that the Hotel goes from strength to strength - and that I'll one day be returning! Many thanks Johanna Park and all the staff.
Good Hotel Great staff
Rajarshi Con 12/11/2017 11:57Stayed 2 nights here. The front desk staff is very welcoming and proactive. Informed me that they have a daily shuttle going to the city quite a few times a day. Asked me to give my tour voucher and called the tour agency to pick me up from the hotel. The restaurant staff too is very well behaved. A nice safe and homely stay is what you get at this place.

677jenniferalon 10/11/2017 21:13The hotel is situated in a quiet area with stunning views! Make sure you request a room with a view! Lovely outdoor grounds and pool area. Air conditioning could have been more powerful, but I guess all AC in Europe leaves a lot to be desired. Guest rooms are average, but the setting makes up for it.

Steph gon 09/11/2017 14:23Lovely hotel. Quiet area and rooms. The staff are super friendly and always there when you need something. Food was good, their wine even better. Rooms are comfortable. Our room had a balcony overlooking the water. Sunrise & sunset were amazing.

Susanne Ron 03/10/2017 16:13We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while on a Trafalgar tour. The hotel was charming and had a great view and a lovely outside sitting area. The staff greeted us so warmly .
We would definitely recommend this hotel.
