This was our first visit to Lugo and were worried that perhaps it was too far out of town . Not so, only a few minutes away by car. Rooms are clean and spacious and the restaurant offers great delicious options at reasonable prices . Our room was quiet and smoke free. The people at the reception were really helpful and everyone spoke English ....a great bonus .
I definitely recommend the hotel and oh ! They do have breakfast included.

The Jorge I is handily placed on the outskirts of town, easy to find when you come off the main road from the east, with plenty of (free) parking. Room was good size as was bathroom. Food in the café was also decent and the place obviously has a good reputation as it was busy with locals & businessmen. Girl on reception was also very helpful (see below). The only negative was that our room was directly above the reception area. As everywhere was quiet (it being February) when trying to get to sleep I could hear the sound of the automatic doors repeatedly whirring open & shut. It could not have been due to guests coming and going at that time of night so I assume someone was standing near the sensor (smoking outside?) causing them to open and close. Other than that we enjoyed our one night stay.
PS On arrival early in the afternoon we thought we'd take a stroll into the centre of town (about 2 miles we reckoned). We asked the receptionist about the route and she was adamant that we should not walk. She said it was way too dangerous with the traffic and that we should take the bus. Being well-travelled and hardy we brushed off her advice and started to walk. Not far in the pavement ran out and it was clearly going to be too risky to confront the traffic on a busy main road populated mostly by Spanish drivers. We crossed over and waited for the bus!

This hotel was a real surprise. Although it was well-located just outside Lugo near the motorway, we feared it might be a rather basic travellers' hotel. Not at all! The rooms were very good and well-insulated to external noise. But perhaps the most surprising feature was the amazing quality and value of the food in the in-house cafe. We had a superb 3-course meal with appetisers, wine and water for 10 euro per head. We would be hard-pressed to recommend an equivalent high quality value for money hotel! If you intend visiting Lugo, its a short taxi ride if you prefer not to take your own car.
