What People are saying

A descent hotel with pleasant hospitality

prakashgariya on 25/10/2017 12:01

Stayed for two days. Descent and well maintained rooms, washrooms are spacious and neatly done. Very well mannered staff who understand hospitality. Food was good, though more options for vegetarians may be desired. Thanks guys for making my stay a comfortable one.

Helpful staff but a few question marks remain

I recently spent 5 nights at the KPH in Arusha. The rooms are large and well appointed, too bad the ample windows are not soundproof. The Old Moshi Road is noisy most of the day and traffic begins very early in the morning.
Bathrooms are OK but showing their age.
The restaurant offers a lovely outdoor area facing the pool. Food is OK but nothing special. The meats were constantly hard and chewy. Top marks to the veggies, instead.
Staff were always smiling and helpful, even when they struggled to find solutions to some inexplicable quirks of this hotel. The most maddening one was that—while my room had been prepaid for 5 nights—the magnetic key needed re-validating each morning after the 10AM checkout time. While this doesn't appear to be a major problem it still took 4 days to finally solve it. I should add that a 10:00 checkout is way too early. Also, the TV menu is pretty dismall; the only news channel available was Al Jazeera!
I therefore rate the KPH's value for money at 3 out of 5.

Very comfortable

We stayed here for one night on arrival in Tanzania, before heading off on safari.
The receptionist was very frosty and disinterested, but other staff were friendly and welcoming, including offering us a drink while we checked in.
After depositing our luggage in our room, we went straight to the restaurant, as it was close to their closing time. The staff were friendly enough. My husband ordered a burger with fries and I opted for vegetable samosas. My husband was happy enough with his food, but my samosas were very disappointing. The first bite was ok, although the filling was bland, in need of seasoning and spices, but on second bite, the inside was stone cold. I suspect they had come straight out of the freezer into the fryer. Each one was the same. Nobody came to ask how things were. When the waitress came to clear the table, she questioned why I hadn't eaten much. When I explained, she asked if I'd like something else. By then, we had been travelling for 18 hours and had an early start next day. we just wanted to go to bed! When we went to pay, the restaurant manager said the waitress had told him what we had said, and again offered us something else to eat. We thanked him, but refused. However, it was disappointing to see we were still charged for the samosas!
Breakfast in the morning however, was quite decent, with a reasonable selection of items to choose from.
The room was very clean and comfortable, with efficient but not too noisy air conditioning. The bed was great and the bathroom had all amenities.
The public areas were bright, clean and welcoming.
We are unlikely to visit Arusha again, but if we did, would happily stay here again.

Great Hotel in Arusha

We were placed in this hotel by our safari tour operator Easy Travel, and it did not disappoint. We stayed both before and after our safari, and had both front and back facing rooms. Each was nice in its own way - the front room gave us a grand street view of bustling life, while the back room showcased the tranquility and beauty of the hotel grounds and pool - view of the tropical foilage, palm trees and the flowering Jacaranda tree. The hotel itself is very beautiful, modern and safe with high security, a nice reception area and atrium, friendly staff, welcome drinks, porterage, plus concierge assistance and a boutique store (tanzanite jewellery). Rooms were quiet and clean with AC, in-room safe, coffee machine, flat screen, mini fridge, bottled water, king sized bed, wi-fi, ample toiletries, lots of hot water, robes and slippers. The included breakfast was a luxurious affair, with coffee/tea and juices, lots of hot and cold buffet choices plus an egg station, you can enjoy your meal inside the restaurant or laze outside near the pool. Have a late breakfast and you will not need lunch.

Kibo Palace is just a short distance from the Arusha Clock Tower, and is highly recommended.

Beauty and Comfort

Beautiful garden and grounds. Lovely, large and well appointed rooms. The wifi is reliable if you need it. And the dining room is worth visiting. Breakfast was spectacular. Lunch and dinner did not disappoint.
