What People are saying

Colonial era dinner

souravbardhan on 19/11/2017 16:24

We were looking for a place to dine. This is a really nice secluded property. It's gives you a glimpse of colonial era gone by. We ordered steaks and lasagne both were done in an excellent way. Pricing, ambiance, location must say absolutely bang on. Keep up the good work in maintaining it folks.

Old World Charm

Docvivax on 09/11/2017 03:19

King's Cliff is a true gem tucked away in a quiet corner of Ooty. Its an old authentic English Bungalow which has been converted into a Hotel. The restaurant is one of the best in Ooty and has a nice mix of Indian, Oriental and Continental fare. Staff are extremely courteous.
The only downside is that as the restaurant is situated in the sitting room of the Manor and can tend to get a bit noisy. On one particular night, a large group of outside guests made a huge racket till late at night, drinking and shouting and all pleas to the staff to tone it down was of no avail. if this is taken care of, I cant find any fault with the place.
All in all would definitely visit again.

Reunion

It is an excellent property, the quaint old world charm and so very cosy.

There were fireplaces in every room, making our stay homely and comfortable

The music in the evenings was live and great retro songs, adding to the ambience

The staff was courteous and hospitable and really went out of their way. We had a lovely and the most memorable time.

Don't think I can forget this trip and I thank Kingscliff and it's staff for making our trip so memorable

Love the place and shall keep going back

Asbestos Room Ceilings; Dishonest Management

Steven-Doc17 on 21/10/2017 23:39

This is the only time I’ve ever felt the need to write a review - due to this hotel’s safety issues and its potential risks to others. Although we paid in advance for three nights, we checked out after only one night - as our room had an old asbestos ceiling, and inhaling asbestos dust can be lethal.
On asking the front desk manager Mr. Gerald what the ceiling was made of, he said it was asbestos and wasn’t aware of its dangers. An arrogant remote manager claimed the ceiling was zinc - and she couldn’t understand why her front desk manager was saying it was asbestos. I’ve uploaded dated photos to help you decide.
Although cold, there was no wood for the room's fireplace; instead they offered to light it with diesel balls – but as this would've led to toxic fumes filling our room, we declined. Wifi wasn’t available and the restaurant dinner was poor, but these were minor issues compared to the safety concerns.
The hotel and Yatra refused a refund, even though we left two days early and could prove we checked into another Ooty hotel on the same day as our departure. Somebody we’d never met at the hotel, a Mr. Santan, lied to Yatra that we had stayed for the full three days – even though we had proof of checking into the other hotel after only one day at Kings Cliff. Yatra's 'customer service' was hopeless. During two months of travelling around India, this was by far our worst experience because of those asbestos risks, compounded by such dishonest hotel management.

Quaint and Historic charm of Olde Ooty

theonlyvarun on 05/10/2017 14:44

Great location and well maintained historic hotel. Excellent food. Well trained staff. Live music by a one man band who is just great. Place to just relax and unwind. Lot of choices to eat around as well , Willow Hill opposite is also a great choice to eat at.
