I stayed at the Knap Guest House for one night as I had a couple of days working in Lochgilphead: I wish I'd arrange to spend more time there. Alistair was nothing short of helpful and friendly throughout my stay. My room was very clean, well appointed and had a very comfortable bed. The shower was equally good: none of that dribbling lukewarm water from a broken shower head I've experienced elsewhere.
I'm a vegetarian and don't eat dairy either: no problem. Alistair made sure I had soya milk so I could enjoy his super-tasty home-made granola for breakfast (as a starter) before he served me up perfectly poached eggs, mushrooms and tatty scones.
Alistair is genuinely pleased to host you and I will definitely stay here again should I be lucky enough to visit the area.

Having chosen to stay at Knap House by reading other reviews we were not disappointed. We were given a very warm welcome by Alistair who showed us to our lovely rooms. From beautiful cotton sheets, a fridge with milk in for tea and coffee and fantastic views of the harbour. Breakfast was cooked and served by Alistair as he recounted all the tales of Tarbert and its harbour . We would highly recommend Knap House and look forward to returning again to visit a bit more of Scotland.

Wasn't sure what to expect...but it was awesome....Alistair is such a nice person and welcomes you with open arms. He is so glad to see you and takes interest in where you are from...HIs breakfast is fantastic and made to order. He likes to take care of you on a one to one basis for breakfast if he can...it makes it so personal. If you want to eat a meal that you picked up you can use the fabulous spotless kitchen..
The room was very nice, and comfy duvets.....hot shower...a beautiful location and very nice town.....I would highly recommend the Knap House!

Alistair is a superb host and very engaging. The rooms are excellent, comfortable and spacious. Get the big suite if possible- Great sitting area and perfect for having drinks. This is our third or fourth time we have stayed here while visiting Scotland, and will not be our last!

Stayed recently for two nights. Alistair is very welcoming and is a great host. Our room had a great view over the harbour and was very comfortable. Alistair offered a good selection for breakfast cooked to perfection. Guesthouse ideally situated for touring the Kintyre Peninsula. I would highly recommend the Knap.
